Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Advanced Product Development Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting and advancing our film-based products, processes, and technologies, with a focus on achieving significant impact at the program level. This position requires an understanding of film manufacturing and the ability to optimize product formulations and processes to meet customer needs.

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

• Provide support and services for existing and new film-based products, processes, or technologies that can have significant impact potential at a program level.
• Build a deep understanding and independently collect and compile test data to meet team goals
• Work with team to develop design of experiments (DOEs) focused on optimizing product formulations and film processes based on customer fitness-for-use criteria
• Use skills in graphing and data analysis to visually illustrate test results and share with team  
• Bring in and standardize new test methodologies, creating standard operating procedures (SOPs) to share with the team
• Build data packages characterizing film manufacture and proposing process improvements during scale
• Work with sourcing colleagues to bring new or alternate sources of raw materials (RMs) and investigate them in our films as needed
• Collaborate with local and global research teams and cross-functional teams to support a leadership position in the markets we serve from both performance and sustainability perspective.
• Contribute to the creation and protection of 3M intellectual property through the filing of new patent applications and / or development of trade secrets.
