The Role
Designs and modifies 3D solid models, drawings, parts lists, tooling, and test equipment for aerospace and space-related mechanical assemblies. Creates printed board assembly drawings, authors engineering change notices, performs tolerance analysis, and prepares technical documents and presentations. Collaborates with engineering teams, solves design and software issues, manages multiple priorities, and supports high-reliability aerospace products. The role is hybrid in Glendale, Arizona, with the first 90 days fully onsite.

As an Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will be working with Engineering to create and/or modify 3D solid models and create drawings and parts lists of mechanical parts and assemblies used in space related applications including Reaction Wheel Assemblies, Control Moment Gyroscopes, Isolation systems, Mechanisms and Electronics Packaging. 

You will report directly to our Sr Engineering Supervisor and work out of our Glendale, AZ site on a Hybrid work schedule.  Note: For the first 90 days, New Hires must be prepared to work 100% onsite M-F.   

Honeywell Aerospace Glendale, AZ facility has a 40-year heritage of engineering, designing, testing, and manufacturing high reliability products for manned and unmanned space applications and missions


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Tooling and test equipment design
  • Creating drawings of Printed Board Assy (PBA’s)
  • Authoring ECN’s (Engineering Change Notices)
  • Editing word documents and preparing presentations with PowerPoint


Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in aerospace or defense sectors.
  • Ability to produce 3D CAD Models, Drawings and associated Parts Lists
  • Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) and ASME Y14.100
  • Ability to perform Tolerance Analysis’
  • Proficient with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Proficient with Adobe Acrobat

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Creo, and Visio
  • Ability to work independently and with a design team
  • Self-motivated to solve design problems and computer software related issues
  • Good oral and written communication skills
