The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies that improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. This role supports new product introductions, manufacturing transfers, automation projects, capacity expansions, and continuous improvement initiatives across Copeland's global manufacturing network.
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer partners with Operations, Product Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and external suppliers to ensure robust, scalable manufacturing solutions that support business growth and operational excellence.
As an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, You Will:
- Lead manufacturing process design, development, and validation for new and existing products.
- Develop and implement automation, tooling, assembly systems, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Manage capital equipment projects from concept through installation, commissioning, and production ramp-up.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) activities and ensure manufacturability requirements are incorporated into product designs.
- Drive productivity, quality, and cost reduction initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Conduct process capability studies and establish process controls to ensure consistent product quality.
- Support manufacturing footprint optimization, plant transfers, and global production launches.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for manufacturing and quality issues.
- Develop process documentation, work instructions, PFMEAs, control plans, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with suppliers and equipment manufacturers on custom equipment development and process improvements.
- Analyze manufacturing data to identify opportunities for operational improvements and waste elimination.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor operations personnel and support training activities related to new processes and equipment.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- 2 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a high-volume production environment.
- Experience leading capital projects and manufacturing process improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement principles.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Domestic and international travel up to 25%
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a high-volume production environment.
- Knowledge of APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and quality systems.
- Experience with automated assembly equipment, robotics, vision systems, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
- Experience supporting international manufacturing operations and product transfers.
- Familiarity with ERP and MES systems.
Onsite Work Arrangement:
This role is based fully onsite, and not eligible for hybrid or remote work opportunities.

The newly renovated Sidney campus has 1M square feet of manufacturing floor with an additional 120k square feet of leading-edge lab facilities. This location is the headquarters for the HVACR Americas business unit. Through our 30 years of scroll compressor expertise, our products help bring comfort and convenience to commercial, industrial, and residential spaces. Approximately 1600 employees work in Sidney, who all support a multitude of business functions.
