The Advanced Hardware Engineer develops, maintains, and improves electronic hardware for fire alarm and life-safety systems. The role covers hardware design, verification, EMC compliance, product safety, certification support, and lifecycle management. The engineer works closely with firmware, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver reliable and compliant products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop hardware architectures, schematics, and design documentation.
- Design analog and digital circuits, including microcontroller-based systems.
- Support PCB layout, design reviews, and product integration.
- Ensure compliance with EN 50130-4 (EMC) and EN 62368-1 (product safety).
- Conduct EMC analysis and support pre-compliance and certification testing.
- Investigate and resolve hardware, EMC, and manufacturing issues.
- Maintain released products, manage component obsolescence, and implement design improvements.
- Develop and maintain test setups and Python-based test applications for verification and validation.
- Support root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical / electronic Engineering or related field.
- Several years of experience in electronic hardware development.
- Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design.
- Experience with microcontroller-based systems and communication interfaces.
- Experience with EMC-compliant hardware design and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of EN 50130-4 and EN 62368-1.
- Experience supporting compliance and certification testing.
- Basic understanding of embedded firmware and hardware-software interaction.
- Familiarity with electronic design and simulation tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with fire alarm, life-safety, security, or industrial control systems.
- Knowledge of EN 54 Standards.
- Basic embedded programming experience (C/C++).
- Basic Python programming skills for test automation, data collection, and analysis.
- Experience with laboratory equipment and debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, protocol analyzers).
- Knowledge of reliability testing and product lifecycle management.
