Engineer audio systems and integrated technology platforms that augment the driving experience.
Combine ingenuity, in-depth research, and a spirit of collaboration with design and engineering excellence.
Advance in-vehicle infotainment, safety, efficiency, and enjoyment.
About the Role
As a Requirements Engineer for the Automotive Audio Innovations Team, you will serve as the critical bridge between product strategy, system architecture, and agile execution. Operating within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) ecosystem, you will collaborate with multiple Scrum teams specializing in Audio Innovations, Brand Applications, UX, Reference Platforms, and Cross-Team Core Features.
Your core mission is to transform high-level Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) and Customer Requirement Specifications (CRS) from tools like Aha! into highly structured, traceable System (SRS) and Technical (TRS) Requirements within IBM DNG, seamlessly mapping them to actionable Features and Modules in ALM.
What You Will Do
Requirement Elicitation & Synthesis
Deconstruct Strategy: Analyze PRDs and high-level roadmap definitions within Aha! to extract the foundational Customer Requirement Specifications (CRS).
Architectural Collaboration: Sit with System Architects, Product Managers, and Brand Owners to co-create, refine, and lock down the CRS, SRS, and TRS.
Structure & Attributation: Author comprehensive System Requirements Specifications (SRS) and Technical Requirements Specifications (TRS). Define crisp, data-driven requirement attributes and metadata within the requirement modules.
SAFe Alignment & ALM Feature Mapping
Cross-Team Governance: Support a host of SAFe Scrum teams across various domains (UX, Audio Matrix, Brand Tuning, Reference Platforms) to ensure cross-functional alignment on complex, cross-team features.
ALM Feature Ingestion: Map SRS/TRS documents directly to actionable Features and Design Requests within ALM Modules.
Grooming & Clarity: Lead requirement and feature grooming sessions with Scrum teams, ensuring engineering backlogs are technically robust and unambiguous.
Define Quality Gates: Collaborate with stakeholders to establish and document a stringent Definition of Done (DoD) within the DNG tool for flawless feature delivery.
End-to-End Traceability & Quality Assurance
Traceability Matrix: Establish, track, and maintain End-to-End (E2E) digital traceability: [Aha! / PRD] ↔ [DNG (SRS/TRS)] ↔ [ALM Features/Modules].
Validation Loop: Collaborate with the testing organization to ensure watertight traceability of test cases from ALM QLM back to the baseline SRS and TRS in DNG.
User Acceptance: Participate in and facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) gates before feature/product release to ensure execution matches the original design intent.
What You Need to Be Successful
Domain Expertise
Automotive Systems: Solid engineering experience in the automotive domain as a Requirements or System Engineer.
Audio & Infotainment Inflection: Hands-on experience or deep technical understanding of features including: Audio Sources & Routing, Tuner & Media playback, Vehicle Interfaces (CAN/LIN), Entertainment Systems, Bluetooth Connectivity, UI/UX interaction, and Cybersecurity.
Tools & Systems
Requirements Management: Advanced proficiency in IBM DOORS / DOORS Next Generation (DNG) for requirement import, module structuring, scrubbing, and configuration management.
Agile & Lifecycle Management: Hands-on experience with ALM (Application Lifecycle Management), ALM QLM, Jira, and Confluence.
Product Roadmapping: Familiarity with Aha! or similar product management platforms.
Visualizing Requirements: Experience using tools like Gliffy, Visio, or Miro to build block/flow diagrams that communicate complex system interactions.
Soft Skills & Methodology
Scaled Agile: Clear understanding of SAFe methodologies, including working across multiple parallel Scrum teams, participating in PI Planning, and managing cross-team feature dependencies.
Systems Thinking: Ability to translate abstract, design-heavy UX ideas or complex audio algorithms into structured, testable engineering requirements.
Bonus Points if You Have
Technical Leadership: The ability to guide engineering teams technically and anchor deep-dive architecture debates.
AI-Driven Productivity: Experience utilizing AI tools/LLMs to accelerate requirement drafting, automate parsing, or enhance compliance/cleansing of SRS/TRS documentation.
