Code and Theory is looking for a Multi-Solution Architect to lead commerce architecture within our Adobe practice, anchoring the Adobe Commerce pillar alongside our AEM, Workfront, and AEP/data practices. This is a hands-on architect role.
You’ll play a vital role in the architecture, design, configuration, testing, and deployment of Adobe Commerce solutions and the Adobe Experience Cloud platforms around them, including Experience Platform, Real-Time CDP, Experience Manager, Edge Delivery Services, Target, and Workfront. Working closely with Engineering, Strategy, and Sales teams and directly with clients, you’ll provide best-fit architecture for commerce programs, help define scope and sizing, anchor proof-of-concept builds, and design integrations with ERP, OMS, PIM, and other third-party services. You’ll also take part in sales pursuits, contribute to thought leadership and mentorship, and collaborate with top talent around the world to deliver high-quality solutions across a wide range of industries.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Architect end-to-end Adobe Commerce (Magento Open Source and Commerce/Cloud) solutions for enterprise B2B and B2C clients, from catalog and pricing to checkout, order management, and fulfillment
- Design headless and composable commerce architectures using PWA Studio, Adobe Commerce Storefront, GraphQL, and API-first integration patterns
- Lead architecture reviews and ensure scalable, secure, enterprise-grade implementations aligned with modern patterns (API-first, composable, cloud-native)
- Design integrations between Adobe Commerce and the broader Adobe ecosystem: AEM for content and merchandising experiences, AEP/Real-Time CDP for unified customer profiles and personalization, Adobe Target for experimentation, and Workfront for content and campaign operations
- Architect B2B commerce capabilities (company accounts, quoting, negotiated pricing, requisition lists, and complex catalog/pricing rules) alongside B2C storefront experiences
- Own technical solutioning for enterprise RFPs and strategic deals, partnering with sales and client partners on scoping, estimation, and solution design
- Translate business requirements into scalable commerce architectures, including migration strategy for clients moving from legacy or competitor platforms (Salesforce Commerce Cloud, SAP Commerce/Hybris, Shopify Plus, custom-built) onto Adobe Commerce
- Design and guide extension development, third-party integrations (ERP, OMS, PIM, payment gateways, tax, shipping/logistics), and custom module architecture
- Guide performance and scalability engineering: catalog indexing, caching strategy, checkout performance, and peak-load readiness (e.g., seasonal traffic spikes)
- Use AI tools like Claude, Cursor, and V0/Vercel to build AI-enabled workflows, agents, skills, and automation that improve delivery speed, code quality, and operational efficiency
- Mentor and upskill engineers and application architects on Adobe Commerce best practices, extension standards, and modern architecture patterns
- Contribute reusable accelerators, reference architectures, and delivery playbooks that raise the commerce practice’s technical standards and speed up future engagements
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- 10+ years of enterprise technology experience, including 5+ years architecting Adobe Commerce (Magento) solutions at scale
- Deep, hands-on expertise in Adobe Commerce/Magento 2 architecture
- Experience with headless/composable commerce including PWA Studio, Adobe Commerce Storefront, GraphQL APIs, and modern frontend frameworks (React, Next.js)
- Hands-on experience integrating Adobe Commerce with AEM, AEP/Real-Time CDP, Adobe Target, and/or Adobe Campaign in real client engagements, not just adjacent platform awareness
- Strong experience with third-party and backend system integrations like ERP (SAP, NetSuite, Dynamics), OMS, PIM, payment gateways, tax engines, and logistics/shipping providers
- Experience with extension development and customization in PHP, and familiarity with Adobe Commerce Cloud infrastructure, deployment, and DevOps practices
- Proven experience leading technical solutioning for RFPs, client pursuits, and architecture reviews with executive stakeholders
- Experience migrating clients from legacy or competitor commerce platforms onto Adobe Commerce
- Strong understanding of performance engineering for high-traffic commerce, like caching (Varnish, Redis), catalog indexing, and checkout optimization
- Experience working with content, web, and data management systems in a broader enterprise architecture context
- Demonstrated experience with AI-assisted software development, using tools like Claude, Cursor, or equivalent to accelerate architecture design, debugging, code review, and documentation
- Strong communication and client-facing skills, and comfort operating at both the architecture-review level and the boardroom level
- Collaborative mindset and the ability to work across creative, data, content, and engineering teams on integrated solutions
NICE TO HAVE
- Adobe Commerce / Magento certifications (Certified Professional Developer, Certified Solution Specialist, Certified Front-End Developer)
- Multi-solution architecture experience across other Adobe products (AEM, AEP, Workfront) in addition to Commerce
- Experience with Adobe’s agentic/AI commerce tooling (GenStudio, Firefly Services) and how they integrate with commerce and content supply chain workflows
- Experience with marketplace, subscription, or complex pricing/promotion models
- Familiarity with modern engineering productivity and delivery platforms such as Jira, Linear, or similar
- Experience driving platform modernization or large-scale commerce replatforming initiatives
- Prior experience in an agency or consulting environment serving global enterprise clients
