About the Team:
The Legal & Corporate Secretarial Department is responsible for managing the legal and the company secretarial functions of the South China Morning Post and its affiliated companies (the Group). You will be part of the Team and support the Group’s operation and projects and the matters as assigned by the Department Head. The team fosters a positive and supportive atmosphere, creating an excellent work environment.
Purpose of the Position:
Assist the General Counsel and Legal Counsel in managing a wide range of matters and projects, organizing and maintaining departmental documents and records, acting as personal assistant. Ensure that the Department’s operations run seamlessly and efficiently, supporting the overall legal, company secretarial and administrative functions of the Group.
In this role, you will:
- Prepare corporate filings such as annual returns and board resolutions
- Handle general correspondences, memoranda and corporate documents (including statutory records and board resolutions etc.)
- Maintain organised filing systems for the Group’s documents (including trademark portfolios and other corporate records)
- Work with various internal and external parties and stakeholders including but not limited to various Business Units and departments, regulatory authorities such as the Companies Registry and other government departments etc.
- Provide a full spectrum of support, including managing corporate records and filings; managing calendars/meeting schedules; preparing documents, including excel spreadsheets, powerpoints
- Assist in various tasks, projects or matters as assigned by Department Head and the team from time to time
- Perform secretarial and administrative duties
- Perform research in various areas, including legal, media, corporate governance etc.
Skills and Experience that will lead to success:
- Diploma, Degree or qualifications in legal, company secretarial or related disciplines.
- Excellent work attitude and personality who can live up to the SCMP values
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Eager to learn and capable of multitasking across various responsibilities
- Prior experience of supporting legal and company secretarial functions and assisting senior executives
- Good knowledge or experience in company secretarial matters
- Work experience in law or professional services firms
- Good command of English and Chinese
- Proficient in office productivity tools, including Excel, G-Suite
- Paralegal experience is a plus but not a must
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail
- Friendly, helpful, and efficient with excellent people skills
- A team player comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Mature personality with a strong sense of responsibility
Work location will be at Causeway Bay office.
