We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) HMI Manager to lead a high performing and highly innovative team of engineers responsible for the design, development, testing and implementation of ADAS HMI software for Super Cruise and other GM Active Safety features. As the ADAS HMI Manager, you will provide effective team leadership, promote innovation, support cross team collaboration and inspire passion in the team You will play a pivotal role in defining and executing GM's ADAS HMI software strategy across all controllers, ensuring seamless coordination of software deliveries.
The ADAS HMI Manager will be responsible for the delivery of production active safety and automated driving software with speed and quality and with focus on efficient software design and optimized software architecture to maximizing reuse across all scalable ACP platforms. This leader will collaborate with other ADAS application software engineering teams to deliver ADAS software products with industry leading performance and innovation. This role will require a sense of urgency and an ability to adapt to new organizational direction in order provide clear and detailed guidance to the team
Provide oversight and technical management of experienced HMI software engineers and technical specialists for embedded software and Android application development supporting the creation of production ADAS HMI content.
Develop and execute GM's ADAS HMI software strategy across all controllers, ensuring timely and coordinated software deliveries.
Collaborate closely with ADAS HMI Product Owners and Program Managers to prioritize features and execute production program timings.
Drive and support process improvement activities focused on first-time delivery quality and 100% on-time execution
Drive the development and integration of Human Machine Interface (HMI) requirements at the feature, system, and software levels.
Translate business objectives to actionable deliverables for work group
Train, develop, mentor, and manage employee performance
Model and foster desired GM core values and behaviors
Stay up-to-date with advancements in automated driving and advanced driver assistance system features.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads, guides and directs a large group of technical employees responsible for engineering deliverables in support of the organization's business objectives.
- Manages engineering execution of team as related to the Vehicle Development Process deliverables.
- Provides technical leadership to work team. Interacts and collaborates with many teams cross-functionally.
- Leads team on new methods or initiatives without defined procedures.
- Leads team to meet targets.
- Reviews and approves engineering documentation, e.g. requirements, documents.
- Hiring: Identifies & leads staffing initiatives for work team.
COMMUNICATING:
-Conducts regularly scheduled Group Meetings, Communicates GM Policies & Procedures, Leadership and Safety Messages.
-Creates and communicates vision & strategies specific to functional responsibilities. May include preparing and giving presentations.
TRAINING & DEVELOPING:
- Insures employees complete all mandatory GM training and any specific training related to functional responsibility.
- Understands & supports employee's career development goals. Develops and executes initiatives to improve work team capability and increase work team capacity.
ASSIGNING WORK:
- Assigns and manages workload for direct reports. Sets individual employee and group priorities.
MONITORING & APPROVING GM RECORDS:
- Reviews and approves employee work and overtime schedules, expenses, and other work-related data.
EVALUATING PERFORMANCE AND BEHAVIORS:
- Reviews deliverables and provides candid & constructive feedback. Conducts performance interventions when necessary.
RECOGNITION:
- Formally & informally recognizes employee's contributions.
- Provides timely and consistent feedback to direct employee's as appropriate.
- Participates in compensation planning and administers compensation treatment.
REMOVING ROADBLOCKS & RESOLVING ISSUES/COMPLAINTS:
- Observes and steps up to remove roadblocks and resolve potential issues.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Additional Description
Bachelor of Engineering or Computer Science Engineering
9+ years of experience in production software engineering.
Strong knowledge of automated driving and advanced driver assistance system features.
Proven experience in leading a technical team to deliver production intent content.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries.
Understanding of Human Machine Interface requirements at feature, system, and software levels.
Knowledge of embedded software and/or Android software development, testing, and associated tools.

  • Compensation:
    • The expected base compensation for this role is: $172,900- $285,300. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
    • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
