JOB SUMMARY

The Associate Director of Bioinformatics Innovation is responsible for driving the strategic vision, innovation roadmap, and execution of next-generation bioinformatics technologies that enable breakthrough products in genomics, precision medicine, molecular diagnostics, and AI-driven healthcare. This role combines scientific innovation,, computational expertise, and cross-functional collaboration to transform emerging technologies into scalable clinical and commercial solutions. THIS Can be  REMOTE or Hybrid

The successful candidate will lead innovation initiatives across computational biology, machine learning, genomics, cloud computing, and software platforms while partnering closely with R&D, Bioinformatics R&D and Software Engineering and Business Development teams.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Define and execute the bioinformatics innovation ideas.

· Identify emerging technologies in bioinformatics, multi-omics, AI, and digital health.

· Evaluate novel computational methods and translate cutting-edge research into commercially viable products.

· Partner with cross-functional teams to translate innovative computational solutions into prototypes.

· Support product roadmap planning and technology transfer.

· Evaluate external technologies, open-source platforms, strategic partnerships, and licensing opportunities.

· Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, scientific excellence, and continuous learning.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

· Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.

· 8 years of experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, or genomics.

· 3 years of experience managing and leading a team, including direct people management responsibilities.

· Familiarity with modern programming languages such as Python, R, C++, or Java.

· Demonstrated success leading innovative computational solution development.

· Deep knowledge of genomics, NGS analysis, statistical genetics, and computational biology.

· Experience developing production-grade bioinformatics pipelines and software platforms.

· Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Preferred:

· Strong understanding of machine learning and AI applications in life sciences.

· Experience working in multidisciplinary teams.

· Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).

· Experience with large-scale genomic databases and real-world clinical data.

· Track record of patents, publications, or successful product launches.
