Actuarial Summer Internship
Role is Remote

Salary: $25/hour

Schedule: 40 hours/week, for 10 weeks in Summer 2023 (Tues, May 28th - Fri, August 9th)

The value of this position

Embroker is a fast-growing start-up with ambitious targets to expand into new markets and increase its product offerings. In this role, you would be at the forefront of research and development, getting direct experience with actuarial projects in areas such as pricing, reserving, claim analytics, and more. You will work in a cross-collaborative team which includes underwriters, claims experts, and other insurance professionals, all while developing your knowledge of specialty and commercial insurance products.


What experience we think is the right fit 

  • Pursuing/completed a degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics or any other related degree
    • If currently pursuing degree, expected graduation in Fall/Winter 2024 or Spring 2025 is required
  • Passed at least one actuarial exam
  • Entrepreneurial and dynamic, looking to learn and flex both inside and outside the Actuarial function
  • Interest in developing and implementing innovative actuarial rating algorithms
  • Desire to design creative solutions to solve complex insurance problems
  • Strong Excel skills and proficiency in a programming language such as SQL, R, or Python
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

What does your typical day look like?

I work with everybody because everybody works with email. So I’m working with Sales, the Customer Success team, the Sales Development Reps and the DemandGen team, which research the leads that we reach out to. My job touches everybody so I have all these different chains of communication going on every single day.

My team is really good at coming up with solutions for problems. I am really proud of us for that. I know that’s very broad, but whenever a problem comes our way, I feel we’re well equipped to problem solve on the fly.
