Job Description:

The mandate of the  Strategy, Enablement and Optimization team is to improve customer experience, colleague experience and optimize claims and shared services operations costs through providing deep analyses and understanding of the operations processes to stakeholders.  

This team is a multidisciplinary team that collaborates with actuaries, claims adjusters, data experts and data scientists. This is a unique opportunity to join a team of experienced actuaries in order to apply and develop your analytical and business acumen skills by having a direct impact on the improvement of the claim processes at TD Insurance. 

CUSTOMER 

  • Develop and support deep analytics on business results and performance to identify strategies to mitigate the impact of inflation and growth on our operations. 

  • Provide technical expertise across a broad range of data analysis functions including data modeling, visualization and data profiling. 

  • Present and share ideas and strategic recommendations to the SSO and SEO leadership team and other partners. 

  • Collaborate closely with business SMEs to capture the business challenges, translate into technical requirements, and facilitate adoption of analytics solutions. 

  • Participate in initiatives that will improve customer and colleague experience by proposing solutions leveraging insights from data and analytics. 

  • Communicate and explain financial and analytical concepts to a non-technical and frontline audience.

  • Consistently exercise discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality; escalate issues where appropriate 

  • Be knowledgeable of practices and procedures within own area of responsibility and keep abreast of emerging trends for own functional area 

  • Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk activities as necessary 

  • Identify, recommend and effectively execute standard practices applicable to the discipline 

  • Adhere to internal policies/procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines 

  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts 

  • Contribute to the rating team’s innovation culture that will allow the company to increase its competitiveness. 

  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite

BREADTH & DEPTH 

  • Experienced working professional role providing specialized business services, advisory or processes / program support within their own area of specialty 

  • Requires experienced, conceptual and practical knowledge within their own specialty and knowledge of broader related areas 

  • Leads projects or workstreams within broader projects with moderate risk and may be accountable for managing ongoing activities, processes and functional programs 

  • Works within broad guidelines / policies and independently performs tasks from end to end 

  • Solves moderately complex problems by taking a new perspective on existing solutions 

  • Generally reports to a Manager / Senior Manager 

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION 

  • Minimum of 2 years of actuarial experience in Property & Casualty 

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Actuarial Sciences or related field 

  • Minimum of 2 actuarial exams of the Casualty Actuarial Society 

  • Analytical mind and ability to make sound decisions 

  • Strong aptitude for team work 

  • Ability to complete tasks independently 

  • Good organization and time management skills 

  • Creative in finding solutions to complex problems 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite 

  • Proficiency in programing or using analytical tools (R, Python, SQL, VBA, etc.)
