The Research Intern will work with investigators on cancer prevention, cancer survivorship, health services, and cancer health disparities research. Under the mentorship of senior researchers, the intern will gain hands-on experience in the research process, including literature review, data management, statistical analysis, scientific writing, and presentation of research findings. This internship may fulfill practicum and/or thesis requirements.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct literature reviews to support ongoing research projects.
- Clean, manage, and analyze large health datasets using Stata (or similar statistical software).
- Perform descriptive and multivariable statistical analyses under investigator supervision.
- Prepare publication-quality tables, figures, and data visualizations for manuscripts, conference abstracts, and scientific presentations.
- Present research progress during team meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary investigators.
- Assist with drafting manuscripts, abstracts, and research proposals.
- Maintain organized analytic code and research documentation to ensure reproducible research.
- Opportunity to contribute as a co-author on scientific abstracts and manuscripts, with the potential to lead an independent research project based on experience and performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
· Master’s degree or higher education level
· Data analysis experience: Strong Stata programming (or other statistical software) skills.
Preferred
· Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS) or SEER data management experience.

Remotely and/or American Cancer Society Office (TBD)
