About the Role
The Acoustic Systems Engineer will work on Harman’s Non-Branded Audio system design, development and the focus on tuning of new non-branded audio systems cars.
What You Will Do
- Tune non-branded audio systems in the automotive environment for multiple projects, platforms and tools
- Execute non-branded sound tuning on Audio Systems for OEMs
- Prepare technical requirements and report presentations
- Provide technical support and guidance for the solution of various customers’ and interdepartmental initiatives
- Develop and document tools and best practices in an international environment
- Planning and managing customer projects and alignment with internal and external stakeholders
- Pick up and delivering cars from customer to car lab
- Preparation of internal/ external audits within the work domain and location
- Support or execution of mechanical tasks e.g. disassembling and mounting hardware components (loudspeaker, amplifier, head-unit)
- Create and maintain project documentation and reporting for various stakeholders
- Travel to customers and other Harman sites on a regular basis
What You Need to Be Successful
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Acoustics, or a related field; alternatively, a Tonmeister degree
- 5+ years of experience in automotive or consumer audio systems, sound tuning, or related audio fields such as studio, mixing, or recording
- Strong knowledge of acoustics, sound reproduction, loudspeaker design, audio system development, with hands-on experience evaluating sound quality and experience in acoustical engineering, transducer engineering, DSP, amplifier engineering, psychoacoustics, or recording arts
- Familiarity with audio tools, product development best practices, and ideally algorithm development or programming (e.g., MATLAB, C, C++)
- Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and project management skills, with the ability to support technical and creative solutions
- Fluent English communication skills; additional languages are a plus
- Willingness to travel regularly and a valid driver’s license
