At BSM, the Accounts Trainee - Vessel Accounting will support the Vessel Accounting team in managing the financial administration of assigned vessels. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in maritime accounting, financial reporting, and vessel financial operations while working closely with experienced accounting professionals. The trainee will develop a strong understanding of ship management accounting processes, compliance requirements, and financial controls within the maritime industry.
Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in processing accounting transactions for assigned vessels, including invoices, expenses, payments, and crew-related costs.
Support the preparation of periodic financial reports and budget monitoring activities.
Assist in generating client invoices and maintaining records of receivables and payments.
Support intercompany invoice processing and account reconciliations.
Maintain accurate accounting records and update financial data in company systems.
Assist with monthly account reconciliations and ledger maintenance.
Help compile accounting and financial information for management reporting.
Ensure supporting documentation is properly filed and maintained for audit and compliance purposes.
Support internal and external audit requirements by providing relevant financial documentation.
Monitor financial transactions to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
Collaborate with vessel accounting teams to resolve accounting discrepancies and queries.
Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute to operational efficiency.
Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Fresh graduate or up to 1 year of experience in accounting, finance, or shared services environments.
Internship experience in accounting or finance will be an added advantage.
Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
Strong analytical and numerical skills.
Good attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
