Job Title: Accounts Payable Specialist
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Classification: Full-time
Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Monday - Friday
Pay Rate: Range starts at $20.49/hour
Summary:
The Accounts Payable Specialist will complete the daily tasks related to the overall accounts' payable functions at the Zoo. This position reports to the Controller.
Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Review accounts payable invoices for accuracy and completeness.
- Match purchase orders, invoices, and receipt verification per accounting department policies.
- Manage and process purchase requests and invoices through Concur, the electronic purchasing system, and finalize vouchers in Abila MIP, the accounting system.
- Ensure expense coding, voucher preparation, and check issuance are accomplished accurately and timely.
- File and maintain complete and accurate records of processed payments.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with vendors and zoo personnel to facilitate successful completion of accounts payable process.
- Research and resolve vendor payment discrepancies.
- Produce various reports related to corporate expenses for management use.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Associate’s degree in accounting or business, or 2-4 years accounts payable experience.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office programs and Abila Fund Accounting (MIP) or other accounting software packages.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
Candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment background check, drug test, and possess a valid driver’s license with a good history.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Will lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds using safe and proper lifting methods.
