Join our Mission 🥛
We are a high-growth eCommerce scaleup revolutionizing grocery delivery, combining convenience and sustainability. After significant success in the UK, we’re rapidly scaling in the US, creating a unique opportunity to join as one of the early finance hires.
As US Finance Manager, you will play a crucial role in setting up and managing core financial operations for our US business, ensuring robust financial controls, accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting growth. You will oversee day-to-day finance, supplier payments, payroll, and depot-level financials, reporting into the Boston-based Finance Director and working closely with the UK-based Group Controller and an outsourced finance team based in India.
Key Responsibilities
1. Core Finance Operations & Controls
- Own transactional finance: Oversee and manage all invoice processing, accounts payable, and payments.
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, working with external payroll providers.
- Supervise bank reconciliations, cash management, and short-term cash flow planning.
- Manage weekly US depot-level P&Ls, ensuring costs are allocated correctly.
- Run the US segment monthly close process, ensuring timely reporting into the Group Finance team based in the UK.
2. Process Setup & Finance Optimization
- Help design and implement basic accounting, control, and reconciliation processes to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
- Partner with the operations team to setup best-in-class financial controls around inventory
- Oversee financial workflows with the offshore back-office team in India.
- Support the integration of automation-first tools to improve efficiency in bookkeeping, invoicing, and reporting.
3. Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee the month-end and year-end close, working with the UK finance team to ensure US financials are consolidated correctly.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on US business performance, including depot-level insights.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and tax requirements, working with external consultants where needed.
- Support tax filings, including sales tax, payroll tax, and corporate tax compliance.
What you’ll bring
- Strong track record of delivering excellence in finance and accounting. Experience in industry is a plus, but we will consider candidates straight from practice who can demonstrate a high level of commerciality.
- CPA preferred but not mandatory – strong financial experience is key.
- Prior experience in high-growth startups, eCommerce, logistics, or food delivery is a plus.
- Strong financial operations background with exposure to accounting, payroll, supplier payments, and reconciliation.
- Experience working with outsourced finance teams or offshore support functions is desirable.
- Proficiency in Xero or similar accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and utilising modern payroll providers (Gusto, Justworks etc)
- Strong Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and manage finance operations independently.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on and proactive, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Process-driven but adaptable – comfortable setting up new finance structures.
- Strong communicator who can work across time zones with the UK finance team.
- Experience of systems implementation and change management is desirable e.g. a new payroll system implementation

What We Do
Our business started as a local milkround inspired by David Attenborough's Blue Planet and the need to reduce plastic waste. In the space of a few short years, we've grown from four friends and a truck to a vast network of milkmen and women working tirelessly to reduce consumer waste. Our mobile tech supports our 'eco-warriors on earlies' by connecting them to our customers via online ordering and driver apps, facilitating convenient doorstep deliveries. The tech also connects us to our network of independent dairies, farmers and suppliers who are mutually committed to sustainable produce and plastic-free packaging. We're continually innovating to expand our return and reuse range, and our business is ever-evolving. But we're purpose-driven, and our environmental goals are steadfast. Our mission is to revolutionise consumer habits by delivering fresh ways to return and reuse packaging, shop ethically and feel good about convenience.
