ContextAt Paynovate, we move fast, and so does our Finance team. We’re looking for a hands-on Accounting Manager who brings structure, leadership, and clarity to a growing, multi-entity fintech environment.
You’ll lead a team in a context where complexity, collaboration, and pragmatism go hand in hand.
As Accounting Manager, you will lead the accounting function end-to-end across six legal entities. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with all accounting and tax obligations, and build robust processes suited to a regulated fintech environment.
The role combines hands-on accounting ownership with team leadership, process optimization, and the management of complex topics such as financial transaction reconciliations, VAT specificities, and financial internal controls.
You will:Own accounting operations & reporting
- Lead monthly and annual closings and prepare statutory financial statements (Belgian GAAP)
- Oversee AP, AR, and GL activities across entities
- Oversee daily accounting reconciliations related to Paynote’s regulated financial activities
- Prepare tax filings (VAT, income tax, payroll taxes) and act as main contact for auditors and regulators (e.g. NBB)
- Prepare upcoming group consolidation (to be implemented within 6-12 months)
Strengthen structure, controls & systems
- Define and implement accounting policies and procedures
- Identify risks and strengthen financial internal controls in line with regulated activities
- Drive process improvements, system enhancements, and data integrity initiatives
Lead and support the team
- Manage, coach, and grow a team of three
- Act as a hands-on backup when needed and foster accountability and continuous improvement
Collaborate across the business
- Partner with Finance, Legal, HR, and other stakeholders to ensure accounting integrity
- Provide clear financial insights to management and regulators
You’re a strong accountant who enjoys bringing structure to complex environments. You’re comfortable with hands-on work, but your real value lies in oversight, judgment, and leadership.
You bring:
- Proven experience as an Accounting Manager or Head of Accounting in a financial services or fintech environment
- Solid multi-entity accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP and tax regulations
- Fluency in French and English
- Proven people management skills
- An autonomous, structured, and analytical mindset
- Ease working in fast-changing, regulated environments
Strong plus
- Experience with database extractions and tax compliance
- Recognized accounting certification (e.g. Belgian Certified Accountant/Expert Comptable - IEC)
