Job Summary:  

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Manager responsible for leading assigned accounting operations while driving continuous improvement across accounting processes, systems, and internal controls. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this role manages designated Staff Accountants and Accounts Payable professionals, ensuring timely financial reporting, an efficient month-end close, and scalable accounting operations.

This position plays a key role in modernizing accounting workflows through process improvement, automation, and technology. Partnering closely with Finance, Operations, and IT, the Accounting Manager identifies opportunities to strengthen controls, eliminate non-value-added work, and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting organization. Success in this role requires a hands-on leader who challenges the status quo and leverages tools such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft Power Platform, Tableau, and FloQast to drive meaningful business improvements. 

Essential Duties:  

Leadership & Team Development 

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of professionals. 

  • Establish performance expectations, conduct regular coaching, and support career development. 

  • Allocate workload and prioritize resources to ensure deadlines are consistently met. 

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer service. 

Process Improvement & Automation 

  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate, or eliminate manual accounting processes. 

  • Lead cross-functional process improvement initiatives that improve efficiency, scalability, and financial accuracy. 

  • Partner with IT and business stakeholders on ERP enhancements, workflow automation, and system implementations. 

  • Leverage Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Tableau, FloQast, and related technologies to improve reporting and operational efficiency. 

  • Develop KPIs to measure the effectiveness of process improvements. 

Accounts Payable Leadership 

  • Oversee the Accounts Payable function, ensuring timely invoice processing, vendor payments, and resolution of escalated issues. 

  • Monitor AP performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, controls, and automation. 

  • Partner with Procurement and Operations to improve purchasing and invoice workflows. 

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, delegated authority, and internal controls. 

Month-End & Year-End Close: 

  • Manage the monthly and annual close processes for assigned functions within established deadlines, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. 

  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting analyses. 

  • Identify opportunities to shorten the close process through automation and standardization. 

Technical Accounting Guidance: 

  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support. 

  • Research and interpret accounting guidance to ensure appropriate accounting treatment for new transactions and business initiatives. 

  • Assist in implementing new accounting standards and company policies. 

Internal Controls & Compliance 

  • Maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting.  

  • Support internal and external audits.  

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.  

  • Identify control gaps and implement corrective actions. 

Reporting & Analysis: 

  • Analyze reports, providing insights and recommendations to senior management. 

  • Utilize Microsoft Power Platform, Tableau, FloQast, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 to enhance reporting capabilities and streamline processes. 

  • Monitor key performance indicators and metrics.  

Qualifications:  

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field required 

  • Active CPA license required. 

  • 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience including 2+ years of supervisory or team lead experience 

  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics) 

  • Experience managing Accounting, Accounts Payable or shared service accounting functions preferred. 

  • Demonstrated success implementing process improvements or system enhancements. 

Technical Skills: 

  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) 

  • Strong proficiency in accounting systems and financial reporting tools. 

  • Knowledge of ERP systems, database management and system integration techniques. 

Soft Skills: 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. 

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Professional certifications (e.g. Power Platform) 

  • Experience with data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) 

  • Understanding of current accounting standards and regulations 

Physical Requirements: 

  • The ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time  

  • Ability to manage & interact with team members in a remote environment 

  • Willingness and able to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed  

  • Identify and manage potential conflicts and challenges; proactively handle problems
