Grace Church is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to lead our Finance Team and help ensure the faithful, accurate, and responsible stewardship of the resources entrusted to Grace Church.

This is more than an accounting role. The Accounting Manager will provide financial leadership across the organization, partnering closely with the Director of Operations and ministry leaders to strengthen financial processes, provide meaningful reporting and forecasting, support budgeting and strategic decision-making, and ensure compliance with accounting, tax, and stewardship standards.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Lead, supervise and provide care for all Finance Team staff and volunteers
  • Continually work to provide and communicate volunteer opportunities in the Finance Department to the Church
  • Oversee the generation of timely and accurate financial reports per agreed-upon formats on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Manage annual budget preparation including setting budget targets, compiling the budget and reviewing departmental budget submissions
  • Prepare short and long-term financial and/or operating activity forecasts for use with internal management and external parties
  • Analyze operating results as they affect the financial aspects of Grace Church and make recommendations for better use of resources
  • Prepare financial agenda items for the quarterly Board of Director meetings
  • Maintain agreed-upon internal control policies and procedures. Perform budget variance analysis to ensure that expenditures do not exceed amounts authorized without proper approval
  • Assume responsibility for the proper coding of transactions and maintaining all applicable supporting documentation
  • Responsible for coordinating the timely completion of our annual audit with the auditing firm designated by the Board of Directors
  • Act as an authorized contact with all financial institutions
  • Oversee the maintenance of donor records and the quarterly distribution of IRS-compliant contribution statements
  • Assist individuals with stock, mutual fund, and other gifts beyond the offerings generated through weekly services; develop recommendations and help to implement strategies for encouraging other giving opportunities
  • Maintain the computerized financial records and integrate financial software capabilities into the operations of all ministries while maintaining appropriate access and data security
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations

Classification: Full-time, Exempt
Schedule: Monday–Friday

Qualifications

     

    Skills/Experience:

    • 5+ years of professional experience in accounting.  Church, Non-profit, or Governmental accounting experience is desired
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
    • Proficient in using Grace systems including Excel, Intacct, Martus, Ramp, and others
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities with proficiency in problem-solving
    • Has great relational skills: full of faith, friendly, calm, and professional
    • Outstanding organizational skills
