Lead day-to-day coordination of global intercompany reconciliation, clearing and settlement across a network of more than 90 intercompany relationships. Partner with Project Finance, Treasury and entity accounting teams to resolve balances and support approved cash-repatriation activities. Intercompany resolution is the primary responsibility, supplemented by defined intercompany consolidation support under Manager's direction.
Key responsibilities
Intercompany reconciliation and resolution
- Maintain a global register of intercompany relationships, currencies, balance types, accountable contacts, ageing and unresolved differences.
- Reconcile and confirm reciprocal balances and transactions.
- Investigate mismatches and coordinate corrections with entity accounting, regional finance and shared-service teams.
- Track aged and disputed items, agree resolution owners and deadlines, and escalate unresolved blockers to Shelby.
- Coordinate the intercompany calendar and regular exception and settlement reviews.
Project Finance, settlement and cash-repatriation support
- Work with Project Finance to validate project-related billings, recharges and supporting documentation.
- Resolve disputed project balances and identify project cash commitments affecting settlement timing.
- Prepare proposed clearing, netting and settlement schedules for Treasury review.
- Track approved settlements through completion and reconcile the resulting entries on both sides.
- Support Treasury’s approved cash-repatriation plans by gathering accounting evidence and coordinating documentation and approvals with Tax, Legal and local finance.
- Report actual cash movements separately from noncash clearing and consolidation eliminations.
Consolidation, reporting and controls
- Support monthly, quarterly and annual consolidation through intercompany submission checks, elimination schedules, rollforwards and assigned intercompany consolidation entries.
- Prepare supporting documentation for Shelby’s review.
- Analyze elimination variances and explain period-over-period intercompany movements.
- Supply intercompany schedules and analysis to Corporate Accounting & GL Governance for consolidated reporting.
- Maintain control documentation, audit evidence and exception logs.
- Recommend improvements that reduce recurring differences and improve settlement execution.
Accountability boundaries
- The specialist prepares, reconciles and coordinates. The role does not independently approve its own entries or release payments.
- Shelby retains consolidation oversight and review of significant judgments and exceptions.
- Corporate Accounting & GL Governance coordinates the broader consolidation package.
- Project Finance validates project balances and project cash requirements.
- Entity accounting teams retain responsibility for their source records and corrections.
- Treasury owns liquidity decisions, settlement scheduling and authorized payment execution.
- Tax and Legal determine applicable requirements and approve repatriation structures through company approval processes.
- Consolidation assignments should remain focused on intercompany deliverables, so they do not displace settlement and cash-repatriation responsibilities.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, an accounting qualification, or equivalent relevant experience, subject to HR confirmation.
- Demonstrated experience with complex multinational intercompany accounting across multiple currencies and entity relationships.
- Direct experience partnering with Project Finance and Treasury to resolve balances and complete settlements.
- Practical experience supporting cross-border cash repatriation, including documentation and approval coordination.
- Strong reconciliation, intercompany elimination, consolidation-close and foreign-currency accounting skills.
- Ability to drive resolution across teams without direct reporting authority.
- Excel proficiency, including pivot tables and lookups, and experience with JD Edwards, OneStream or comparable systems.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, attention to detail and dependable delivery during close cycles. Public-company or audit exposure is a plus.
Measures of success
- Timely reconciliation and confirmation of in-scope relationships.
- Reduction in aged unmatched and disputed balances.
- Completion of approved settlements and cash-repatriation actions.
- Timely elimination entries and intercompany reporting with complete review evidence.
- Clear action ownership and escalation of unresolved items. Set numerical targets after assessing balances, ageing, restrictions and backlog.
