Position Overview
Emerge is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the financial operations of a manufacturing facility while also administering key human resources and payroll functions.
This position will serve as the primary accounting leader for the facility and will be a key business partner to the General Manager and Group Controller. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, cost accounting, payroll, and manufacturing operations, along with the ability to support HR administration in a hands-on environment.
The Accounting Manager will report directly to the General Manager and Group Controller and will directly supervise the Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting
  • Serve as the primary accounting and financial leader for the facility.
  • Maintain the general ledger, chart of accounts, and financial records.
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses.
  • Monitor cash flow, inventory valuation, and standard costing.
  • Coordinate annual audits and support tax preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
  • Review the work of the Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable Manager and provide coaching and performance feedback.
  • Support ERP and accounting process improvement initiatives.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
Human Resources Administration
  • Administer recruiting, onboarding, orientation, and offboarding processes.
  • Maintain personnel records and HRIS systems.
  • Administer benefits and support open enrollment.
  • Coordinate FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation, and leave administration with Corporate HR.
  • Assist supervisors with employee relations, investigations, and disciplinary documentation.
  • Help ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies.
  • Coordinate employee communications and required workplace postings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee information.
Payroll
  • Process payroll accurately and timely using Paylocity or a similar payroll system.
  • Review time records and payroll changes.
  • Process deductions, garnishments, bonuses, reimbursements, and benefit changes.
  • Prepare payroll reports and assist with year-end W-2 processing.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable wage and hour requirements.
Compliance & Administration
  • Coordinate OSHA and workers' compensation documentation.
  • Support safety and compliance initiatives.
  • Maintain confidential financial and personnel records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
  • Five or more years of progressive accounting experience; manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Payroll experience required.
  • Human resources administration experience preferred.
  • ERP experience required.
  • Experience with Paylocity or a similar HRIS/payroll system preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of accounting, payroll, budgeting, cost accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA, and HIPAA.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to supervise and coach accounting team members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial and employee information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, ERP systems, and payroll/HRIS platforms.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees, management, auditors, vendors, and outside agencies.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This is primarily an office-based position involving sitting, standing, walking, computer use, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
The role includes occasional exposure to manufacturing areas, where appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
