Position
Overview
Our
client is seeking to recruit an experienced and results-driven Accounting
Manager to oversee the company's accounting operations and financial
reporting function. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful
candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting,
maintaining strong internal controls, supporting strategic financial planning,
and leading a high-performing accounting team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day
accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable,
payroll, general ledger, reconciliations, and cash management.
- Manage the month-end
and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial
reporting.
- Prepare, review, and
present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance
with IFRS and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate treasury
activities, cash flow management, and banking relationships.
- Prepare financial
analyses, budgets, forecasts, and management reports to support executive
decision-making.
- Monitor financial
performance and provide recommendations to improve efficiency,
profitability, and overall business performance.
- Develop, implement,
and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to
ensure compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements.
- Liaise with external
auditors, regulators, and other key stakeholders during audits and
regulatory reviews.
- Research and resolve
technical accounting matters while ensuring compliance with applicable
accounting standards.
- Support the annual
budgeting process and financial planning activities.
- Assist with Board and
committee reporting by preparing accurate financial information and
supporting documentation.
- Lead, mentor, and
develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability,
collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Identify opportunities
to improve financial systems, reporting processes, and operational
efficiencies.
- Provide financial
guidance and support to senior management on key business initiatives.
- Perform other related
duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Professional
accounting designation such as ACCA, CPA, CA, CGA, or an equivalent
qualification is required.
- Bachelor's degree in
Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Additional training in
Accounting Management or Financial Management would be an asset.
- Minimum of 10
years' progressive accounting experience, including several years in a
leadership or management role.
- Previous experience
within the insurance, financial services, or public accounting sector is
strongly preferred.
- Comprehensive
knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS),
accounting principles, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Strong understanding
of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, treasury, and internal
controls.
- Advanced proficiency
in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience using ERP
systems and other financial management software.
