Accounting Associate, Credit Card Transactions & Compliance – Costa Rica

As an Accounting Associate IV with Momentum, you'll play a key role in our team, collaborating closely with dynamic and talented individuals. You'll contribute to our Accounting team overseeing all credit card transactions, ensuring adherence to company policies, accurately coding transactions, validating receipts, and implementing automation processes for our growing organization. Responsibilities:

  • Processing and monitoring credit card transactions for accuracy and compliance with company policy.
  • Investigating and resolving discrepancies in transactions.
  • Identifying and reporting suspicious activity to prevent fraud.
  • Working collaboratively with other departments, such as fraud and risk management, to ensure a comprehensive approach to security.
  • Credit Card Transaction Management:
    • Review and reconcile credit card transactions regularly.
    • Ensure timely and accurate recording of all credit card transactions in the accounting system.
  • Policy Compliance:
    • Validate that all credit card transactions adhere to the company's financial policies and procedures.
    • Implement and monitor compliance measures to mitigate financial risks.
  • Transaction Coding:
    • Accurately code credit card and reimbursement transactions to the appropriate. 
    • General Ledger, Department, Entity, Customer, and Vendor accounts.
    • Maintain a systematic and organized coding system.
  • Receipt Validation:
    • Verify and validate receipts, ensuring they are in compliance with company policies and are itemized appropriately.
    • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to obtain missing or unclear information on receipts.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Work closely with cardholders to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to credit card transactions.
    • Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with team members, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Automation Implementation: 
    • Identify opportunities for automation in credit card processes.
    • Implement and update automation solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
    • Stay current with industry trends and technologies to propose innovative solutions.


Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Demonstrates a proven track record of success in credit card transaction management and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Is detail-oriented, organized, and a self-starter, capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possesses proficiency in Microsoft Excel skills, with knowledge of advanced formulas and functions preferred.
  • Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excels in communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating proficiency in English - both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of accounting software and systems.
  • Has a demonstrated ability to problem-solve.
  • Is passionate about building and sustaining successful businesses and making a positive impact.
  • Excels implementing and optimizing automation processes.
  • Displays focus, attention to detail, and the ability to concentrate on highly repetitive tasks in distracting environments where accuracy is crucial.
  • Can handle multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment, navigating ambiguity and remaining agile.

When considering experience for this role, we typically find a great fit with candidates who have a minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience in the specified field. Additionally, experience in a holding company and/or in a start-up environment is a definite plus.

The base salary range for this position may vary based on location. Actual compensation will be determined by role, level, and location, considering additional factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
