Job Description

This job classification processes financial transactions, such as calculating and coding interpreter payments, coding deposits, etc., enters financial transactions in the State Financial System, such as employee reimbursements, vendor payments, deposits, billing documents, journal entries, purchase orders, etc., run financial reports, research financial transactions, and maintains financial records and documents,  for the branch.

Salary and Compensation:  

  • Starting Salary: $54,706.44 annually (Hiring Rate).
  • Immediate Growth*: Earn a 2.5% pay increase after successfully completing your probation period (if starting at Hiring Rate).
  • Starting Rate Flexibility: Higher starting pay may be considered based on education and experience, subject to final management approval.
    • *Please Note: Candidates approved to start above the Hiring Rate (at or above the Minimum Permanent rate) are not eligible for the 2.5% post-probation increase.
  • Future Increases: Annual cost-of-living adjustments (applied on July 1) are subject to State Legislature approval.

Job Duties

1. Perform financial transactions, such as payments, deposits, billing, journal entries etc.

2. Distribute and file financial reports and other related documents.

3. Data entry and conduct research in various financial and accounting systems.

4. Produce/run finance reports.

5. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

The above classification responsibilities represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the department.


 

Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related area; 2 years of work experience in public administration, accounting, finance, economics or related area; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Ability to learn and apply accounting and financial practices, and procedures;
  • Able to utilize accounting and financial systems;
  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
  • Ability to learn applicable Federal, State and local laws, rules, and regulations;
  • Computers and related software applications.

Skill Requirements:

  • Applying accounting principles and practices;
  • Compiling financial data;
  • Applying Federal, State, and local laws, rules and regulations;
  • Operating a computer and related software applications;
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction.

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
