Role Summary

We are seeking an analytical and detail‑oriented accounting professional with exceptional Excel skills to support the financial operations of Third Federal. This position focuses on process automation and leveraging Excel (including VBA) to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and insight in our reporting functions, while also contributing to SEC, regulatory and internal reporting. The ideal candidate possesses accounting expertise with a strong technical aptitude and thrives in a collaborative environment. This position offers opportunities to expand your experience across a variety of accounting and regulatory reporting responsibilities while supporting your professional growth.


Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot excel macros and apply advanced excel formulas to build efficiencies, enhance data analysis and reduce errors within processes
  • Gather, analyze and transform data into usable format for financial insights and decision-making
  • Write and maintain financial summaries and reports
  • Prepare financial statement disclosures, XBRL tagging and other financial reports
  • Assist in preparation of regulatory reports including Call Report and Y9s
  • Prepare federal and state tax work papers
  • Perform month-end close processes, record general ledger activity and reconcile accounts
  • Research, assess and document compliance with new and existing U.S. GAAP and other regulatory guidance
  • Gather and provide appropriate support for audit inquiries
  • Perform other duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position, including administrative tasks, special projects and participation on cross-functional teams and committees
  • Cross-train on a variety of departmental tasks

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or relevant business degree
  • Advanced Excel and VBA proficiency is required
  • Experience automating tasks, troubleshooting automated solutions, enhancing workflows and streamlining business processes
  • Ability to research and interpret accounting guidance effectively
  • Detail-oriented with solid analytical and organizational abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • A positive, proactive attitude and desire to cross-train
  • Familiarity with multi-company close and consolidation, federal banking regulations, FFIEC and SEC reporting and Wdesk platform preferred

Our anticipated pay range for this position is $60,000 - $95,000 per year. At Third Federal, we’re committed to transparency throughout the hiring process. The pay range listed is based on relevant market data, role responsibilities, and skills required for the position. Individual pay will be thoughtfully determined by a candidate’s qualifications, experience, and other relevant factors.
