Job Description
The accountant is a dynamic and unique role with the Finance Team. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller this position is responsible for supporting the team as directed by completing accounting processes, reconciliations, reporting and analysis on a monthly and year end basis. Responsibilities within the department may include processing, reconciling and analyzing accounts receivables, accounts payables, credit cards, and other tasks as applicable. A thorough knowledge of full cycle accounting is essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update accounting records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and fixed assets
- Process financial transactions such as AR/AP invoices, customer deposits, vendor payments, credit card and expense reports.
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
- Prepare month end closings & provide the monthly reports
- Year end adjustments journal entries
- Analyze financial data and trends for forecasting purposes
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company procedures
- Assist with audits and tax filings as necessary
- Collaborate with other departments to support overall company goals
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in accounting or finance
- 2 years of experience as an accountant or in a related role
- Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and principles
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities, meet tight deadlines and manage a demanding workload
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with customers and suppliers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Prior experience with Oracle NetSuite is an asset.
- Ability to work and co-operate with other team members and co-workers
