The Role 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced accountant to join our company. We are a well established software and consulting firm that is wanting to bring our accounting function in-house. This is an opportunity to take responsibility for help define and document best practices and the position has lots of room to grow for the right candidate.

As we are a growing company, the right candidate will have opportunities to grow in this role – as we are bringing the accounting function in-house this role will have a unique opportunity to shape the finance function and develop the role. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. 
  • Month-end and Year-end Closing: Lead and oversee closing processes, including adjusting journal entries, accruals, and reconciliation. 
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare budgets, financial statements, monthly reports, and variance analysis to provide insights into the company’s financial performance. 
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, payments, and collections, monitoring accounts for discrepancies and resolving issues promptly. 
  • Bank Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank reconciliations to verify the accuracy of financial transactions. 
  • Tax Compliance: Support the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. 
  • Internal Controls: Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations. 
  • Payroll Processing: Execute accurate and timely payroll processing, including calculating employee wages and bonuses. 

Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. 
  • Industry Experience: Experience in the consulting or software industry preferred. 
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in financial management, as an accountant, controller, or equivalent. 
  • Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of GAAP. 
  • Technical Skills: Experience with QuickBooks Online and Excel.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Independence: Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
