Job Purpose:

The Accountant is primarily responsible for various accounting functions and monthly reconciliations including the VSIMS sub-ledger for revenues, payments, district receivable/payable amounts to Sage Intacct.  This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who combines strong technical expertise with sound judgment, collaboration, and a commitment to strengthening the broader team.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively to prepare and verify school district invoices in VSIMS.
  • Work collaboratively to complete journal entries or uploads for invoices and adjustments as well as recording payments in Sage.
  • Reconcile Sage and VSIMS invoices and payments including the breakout between regular and special education revenue on an interim and monthly basis.
  • Generate VSIMS reports before and after enrollment changes to update invoicing in Sage
  • Create journal entries in Sage with monthly billing & reporting data
  • Maintain school district payments trend (Aging) monthly report. 
  • Update monthly Board report for Student Accounting, Materials, & Internet Reimbursements.
  • Maintain payroll and benefit expense accruals, reconciliations, and journal entires
  • Month-end support including maintaining accrual and prepaid accounts
  • Collaborate with department managers regarding expense budget variances.
  • Provide support for various financial, operational, state, and federal audits.
  • Reconcile Bill.com AP clearing, Visa cards, and department virtual card accounts
  • Research and report on expense budget variances monthly for the Board report
  • Complete special projects as requested by management
  • Performs co-worker responsibilities due to absence or leave
  • Approve employee expense reimbursements accordingly to policy
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency with financial and accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct) and AR functions/reports
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, “sumif” and lookup functions
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and principles.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy and multitasking abilities
  • Proven experience with account reconciliation and financial reporting.
  • Ability to identify and resolve financial issues or problems.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with PDE rules and regulations for billing and Unipay
  • Familiarity with student information systems in regards to billing and reporting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively and professionally collaborate with others in a positive and productive manner 
  • Experience with maintaining records via computerized database
  • 3-5 years accounting experience

  • Mental: Positive Attitude, analyzing, problem solving, decision making, and writing.
  • Environmental: Online, office, blended school environment
  • Travel - As needed to support standardized testing and additionally as needed for positional or organizational needs.
  • Remote work Eligibility - Yes - as determined by departmental parameters

All PA Leadership Charter School  applicants and employees will need to provide Pennsylvania Clearances: Act 34, 114, and 151 upon employment, as well as every five years from the date the previous clearance was obtained.
