Codebase is a young software services company with a great pool of tech-savvy developers. We started in the spring of 2018, and have been growing aggressively. We are located in Pune, India, and serve software product companies across the globe; focusing on enterprise SaaS, eCommerce, cloud, and application development.
We're looking for a sharp, self-sufficient finance professional who can own our day-to-day accounting and compliance work without hand-holding. This is a fractional or part-time engagement to begin with — roughly half a full-time role — but we're open to full-time for the right person.
You won't have a large team around you. You'll need to come in, figure things out, set up systems where they don't exist, and just get things done. If you thrive in that environment, this is for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prior experience at a company in the 50–200 employee range
- Comfortable being the only finance person (or one of very few)
- Familiarity with accounting tools — Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or similar
- If you have 4 + years of experience: ideally already running 1–3 fractional clients and genuinely wanting this model, not settling for it
- 5–8 years of experience in accounting/finance (more is fine if you actually want fractional work)
- Strong, practical command of Excel and/or Google Sheets — you should be building reports, not just filling them in
- Hands-on experience with Indian accounting — GST, TDS, PF, ESI, PT
- Experience running payroll at a company with 50–200 employees
- Exposure to US GAAP basics — revenue recognition, accrual accounting, depreciation schedules
- Experience working with US-based clients or parent companies (common in IT services / SaaS)
- Familiarity with USD-INR forex accounting, multi-currency transactions
- Handled intercompany billing or transfer pricing (even if basic)
- Self-directed — you identify what needs doing and do it, without reminders
- Not a CA — we need execution, not advisory

Skills Required
- 5-9 years of accounting experience
- Manage payroll for India
- Bookkeeping for USA using QuickBooks Online
- Bookkeeping for India using Zoho Books
- Coordinate end-to-end client invoicing for Codebase USA and invoicing from Codebase India to Codebase USA
- Manage receivables and payment follow-ups
- Handle TDS compliance (deduction, filing, Form 16/16A)
- Support month-end closing and audits
- Assist with general FP&A tasks as needed
- Experience working with Chase.com and HDFC Bank for banking operations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently or in a team
