Provide accounting support for county financial records, reconcile and balance accounts, process checks and petty cash, prepare financial information and reports, manage or collect on customer accounts, support payroll/AP/AR functions, lead accounting projects and staff, respond to inquiries, and perform general clerical duties and trainings.

Essential Functions:
- Provides professional accounting support in the maintenance and review of the County’s financial records; may provide accounting support for grants.
- Maintains and balances financials in assigned area; writes off balances if appropriate.
- Gathers and prepares financial information for all departments as needed.

- Distributes/allocates funds if applicable.
- Provides instruction and leadership of accounting staff on assigned accounting projects.
- Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, and requests for assistance in areas of responsibility.
- May manage customer accounts (such as those for the Sheriff, Treasurer, or for services such as sewer, water and landfill); monitor and collect on delinquent accounts.
- May collect debt setoffs on accounts.
- May process refunds.
- Adheres to business policies to ensure compliance with all relevant labor and tax laws and regulations.
- Performs general clerical work as required, including: attending meetings; preparing reports and correspondence; entering and retrieving computer data; copying and filing documents; sending and receiving faxes; answering the telephone; organize and schedule interviews; ordering supplies and planning events; etc.
- Team leads support the payroll, accounts receivable and/or accounts payable manager in their absence with all of their responsibilities and duties.
- Attends training, meetings, seminars and/or workshops to enhance job knowledge and skills.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills Required
- Professional accounting experience
- Experience maintaining and reconciling financial records and preparing reports
- Experience processing checks, petty cash management, and basic cash handling
- Experience with accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll support, and collections
- Ability to respond to customer inquiries and provide accounting-related assistance
