The Accountant I maintains balance sheet and income statement accounts in accordance to GAAP by compiling, analyzing and posting transactions during the normal course of business. The position is responsible for assisting with month-end close, preparing regulatory and financial reporting schedules, lease accounting, fixed asset accounting, tax preparation and reporting, general ledger reconciliations, and special projects. Maintain quality service standards set by the organization. Monitor, adhere to and enforce internal controls.
- Maintain a sound knowledge of Credit Union accounting practices in accordance with GAAP as well as state and federal regulations related to area of responsibility.
- Partner closely with the Controller to ensure timely monthly and year-end close processes including assigned month-end closing tasks and preparation of financial statements for the Credit Union and wholly-owned CUSOs.
- Responsible for preparation of the weekly FRB 2900 Report.
- Assist in preparation of the quarterly NCUA 5300 Report, and other regulatory surveys and reports.
- Perform lease accounting entries and reconciliation of applicable general ledger accounts to sub-ledger systems.
- Perform all fixed asset accounting and reporting in the Credit Union and LLCs and reconciliation of applicable general ledger accounts to sub-ledger systems.
- Assist with loan participation accounting and reporting in the Credit Union and reconciliation of applicable general ledger accounts to sub-ledger systems.
- Responsible for the reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts including researching and determining the proper accounting treatment for aging items.
- Responsible for researching, gathering data and preparing various tax reporting schedules in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Provide administrative support to keep assigned Accounting Policies and Procedures updated.
- Responsible for Operating expense review to include proper application of GAAP, general ledger coding and authorizations. Assist independent auditors, state auditors, examiners and supervisory committee during audits and reviews.
- Participate in assigned departmental and interdepartmental projects.
- Assist in preparation of annual operating and personnel budgets for the Credit Union. Control and monitor expenses within budget guidelines.
- Responsible for vendor management within Symitar & Concur.
- Assist with preparation of annual Vendor IRS information.
- Maintain knowledge of Credit Union policy, procedures and documentation related to work areas in the department.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding member information at all times.
- Understand and support the implementation and application of internal controls for financial reporting.
- Demonstrate strong regulatory knowledge applicable to this position and understand and comply with government regulations with particular emphasis on the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), US Patriot Act and related regulations.
- Actively participate and fulfill expectations in the Credit Union Email Security Awareness Program as outlined in the Information Security Program Acknowledgement document.
- Demonstrates foundational MS Excel skills, understands nested functions and formulas, uses PivotTables, and manages large data sets with functions to effectively and efficiently complete assignments.
- Other duties as assigned, consistent with the position.

Requirements
Experience: Three to five years of similar or related experience. One to three years of direct experience using Workday and/or Symitar strongly preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related degree.
Additional Details:
Hours: Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.
Location: About 90% work from home with occasional days in office.
Position Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
Salary Ranges:
Accountant I: $70,766 - 102,611
Accountant II: $85,627 - $124,159
