ACCOUNTANT, AI OPERATIONS

Play a key role in the finance organization by providing transactional and operational support to the accounts receivable and collections function. You will partner cross-functionally to help collect what is owed and preserve customer relationships. The ideal candidate treats every interaction as a customer service moment, follows established processes, flags issues, and takes initiative to learn and improve.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the full AR/collections lifecycle: aging management, outreach, follow-up, dispute resolution, payment application coordination, and account reconciliation
  • Execute collections activities in adherence to established SOPs for collecting, suspending services, and escalations
  • Assist with dunning workflows and customer engagement on past-due balances
  • Help monitor DSO, aged balances, and maintain a clean AR ledger
  • Serve as a first line of response for AR/collections inquiries across email and ticketing platforms, treating every interaction with professionalism and urgency
  • Investigate and resolve inquiries independently when possible; escalate when required
  • Support de-escalation of billing disputes and payment issues with a solutions-oriented, empathetic approach
  • Maintain thorough documentation of customer interactions, disputes, and resolutions
  • Partner with Billing, Deal Desk, Revenue Accounting, Sales, Customer Success, and Legal to help resolve account issues
  • Provide AR/collections data and support for monthly and quarterly close
  • Communicate on accounts approaching escalation or suspension thresholds
  • Surface patterns and issues to leadership

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1+ years of experience in accounting (internship experience qualifies)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or other business discipline
  • 1+ years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Collections, accounting, or finance (internship experience qualifies)
  • CPA license or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience or familiarity with AR/ERP platforms (NetSuite, Salesforce, or similar)
  • Ability to follow established SOPs while exercising sound judgment
  • Familiarity with ticketing/support platforms
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience in a high-volume or fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer service orientation

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to work long hours or weekends as needed
  • This position is based in Palo Alto, CA, and requires being onsite full-time — hybrid and remote work will not be considered

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay Range:
Level 1: $95,000.00 - $130,000.00
Level 2: $110,000.00 - $155,000.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Employees accrue paid sick leave pursuant to Company policy which satisfies or exceeds the accrual, carryover, and use requirements of the law.
