If you're passionate about building strong client relationships, improving customer journeys, and shaping how clients engage with technology, DataEQ is the place for you.

ABOUT THE JOB

We’re looking for an Account Manager to take ownership of a portfolio of clients and make sure they get real, measurable value from DataEQ’s data and platforms.

This is a mid-level client service role at the heart of our Core business. You will manage day-to-day client relationships, drive renewals and organic growth across your portfolio, and act as the bridge between your clients and our product and consulting teams.

You will build deep familiarity with our platforms, Analyse and Engage, and with how our data is collected, processed, and turned into insight, so that you can guide clients towards the answers that matter most to their business.

This is an ideal role for someone who is commercially curious, well organised, and energised by building trusted client relationships, with a clear path of progression towards Senior Account Manager and beyond.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING DAY-TO-DAY

Client Retention & Renewals

  • Own the day-to-day relationship for a portfolio of clients across sectors such as financial services, telecoms, and retail
  • Drive renewals so that they are processed timeously, and complete relevant RFPs and RFQs with support from your line manager
  • Build a solid network of contacts within each client organisation, from day-to-day users through to budget holders
  • Identify the key business problems our data can be used to solve and position DataEQ’s solutions accordingly
  • Ensure our data is understood and used widely across client teams, rather than by a single champion

Portfolio Growth

  • Develop a clear growth strategy for your client base and focal industries, with input from your line manager
  • Identify and pursue upsell and cross-sell opportunities across your portfolio
  • Set and track client forecasts and upsell plans, with input from your line manager
  • Drive adoption of our data across new teams, users, and use cases within client organisations

Client Delivery & Day-to-Day Service

  • Act as the first point of contact for client queries and resolve them promptly
  • Ensure the smooth running of your clients’ Analyse, Engage and Publish accounts
  • Help clients extract value from our data through dashboard builds, insight walkthroughs, and platform training
  • Brief the analytics team on reporting requirements and ensure completed reports reflect the client brief
  • Quality-check outputs for accuracy before they reach the client, and manage client change requests
  • Proactively manage client expectations, identifying and communicating risks early and escalating issues where needed

Commercial Admin

  • Draw up proposals and cost estimates
  • Keep account documentation, pipeline records, and forecasts accurate and up to date
  • Support the Finance team in following up on and  resolving overdue client payments

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate is curious, commercially minded, and highly organised. They enjoy building relationships, are comfortable working with data, and take real pride in getting the details right.

Experience & Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification
  • 3+ years of experience in a client-facing or account management role (preferably in tech, SaaS, consulting, research, or data-driven services)
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills, both in writing and in person
  • Experience managing multiple clients or projects simultaneously, with excellent attention to detail
  • Analytical problem solving and confidence working with quantitative and qualitative data
  • Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and comfort learning and navigating new web-based software applications
  • Target-driven, determined, and energetic
  • The ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced, performance-orientated environment
  • A collaborative colleague who builds strong relationships internally as well as externally
  • A curious, always learning personality, excited by the scale and potential of the DataEQ vision
  • Able to travel locally

Bonus Points For

  • Exposure to customer experience, CX metrics, or social media analytics
  • Experience in financial services, telecoms, or retail sectors
  • Experience presenting insights or research findings to senior client stakeholders
  • Familiarity with client success, renewals, or upsell processes
  • Interest in automation, AI, and process optimisation

WHY YOU’LL LOVE WORKING WITH US

At DataEQ, we believe in supporting our team—professionally and personally. We value outcomes over inputs and offer a flexible, remote-first work culture where you can thrive.

While we’re globally distributed, most of our team is based in Johannesburg and Cape Town. If you're local, you’ll enjoy opportunities to co-work with team members, attend regular social events, and connect face-to-face.

Here’s what you can expect when you join DataEQ:

  • Remote-first work culture with flexibility and autonomy
  • Market-related remuneration (including generous bonus structure)
  • Generous annual leave
  • Birthday lie-in—enjoy a slower start to your special day
  • Long-term service compensation after 5 years and 10 years
  • Pension and group life insurance (compulsory)
  • Optional medical aid
  • A solid work-from-home set-up, which includes a contribution towards your WFH expenses
  • Access to co-working spaces in Johannesburg and Cape Town
  • Regular team updates to keep everyone aligned and engaged
  • Fun social events and opportunities to connect informally

If you’re excited about building strong client relationships and helping some of the region’s biggest brands make better decisions with data, we’d love to hear from you.
