The Sales Manager position serves as the primary commercial interface for customers in the assigned territory, responsible for driving growth in volume, revenue, and contribution margin for the Crosslinkers Business Line in North America.
This role ensures effective execution of the CL strategy by expanding existing business, identifying new opportunities, and supporting portfolio introduction in the market. It also acts as the key link between customers and internal functions, as Marketing, Applied Technology, Customer Service, and Supply Chain, to strengthen customer intimacy, defend market share, and accelerate regional growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meet or exceed volume, revenue and margin targets for the territory.
- Manage all aspects of customer and market interface in the territory.
- Defend and grow existing business and identify new opportunities in the territory.
- Develop high quality customer relationships with key decision makers.
- Manage customer pricing and support pricing requests.
- Develop and implement key account plans.
- Negotiate and execute multi-year supply agreements that meet the commercial requirements of Evonik while also offering competitive advantage to our customers.
- Work with Marketing, Applied Technology, and commercial support functions to execute plans and meet business objectives for the territory.
- Communicate market intelligence and account updates for customers and markets through timely submission of contact reports, new business opportunities, e-mails, voice-mails, follow-up letters, a monthly territory report and other means of communication as necessary.
- Build strong customer relationships, gain trust, respond to customer needs in a timely fashion, and create an environment where customers feel at ease working with the Sales Manager.
- Manage distributor activity and needs in the Territory and meet with distributor customers if needed.
- Make use of Evonik’s internal tools to ensure effective and transparent communication, planning, execution, and reporting
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in sales, technical marketing, or business development, preferably in epoxy systems.
- Strong understanding of both direct and distributor sales channels.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and strategic planning skills.
- Experience working in or with the coatings, civil engineering and adhesives industries is highly desirable.
Travel Requirements:
Approximately 40%-60% overnight travel is expected, with 3 to 4 days per week dedicated to face-to-face customer interactions and 2 to 3 days for home office-based support and planning.
Summary Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. (Specific rate to be determined, but not limited to, geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data).
Pay Range: $115,000 to $184,000
