The Role
The Account Manager – Styrene is responsible for representing AmSty to the marketplace to create value for the styrene business.  The account manager will help develop and execute sales strategies for assigned customers that drive profitable growth.  The account manager will have the primary responsibility for managing the customer experience with AmSty.  The person in this role will work with Account Management Service (AMS) and logistics team members to meet customers and AmSty’s service level expectations.  The position is located out of Woodlands Corporate office in the Houston area with account coverage responsibilities that include all of the United States.  This position can require travel up to 50% of the time. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Represent AmSty and the Styrene Business
  •       To create strong customer relationships that provide AmSty opportunities to grow and improve business results
  •       Promote and defend AmSty’s interests in the industry or with customers
  •       Provide market and customer intelligence for organizational evaluation
  •       Professional in appearance, comportment, and competence

  • Execute Sales Strategies that…
  •      Meet or exceed customer sales volumes and margin objectives
  •      Execute dependable contractual agreements for the sale of styrene
  •      Define and capture market value for monthly and annual price agreements
  •      Align sales with and leverage organizational capabilities
  •      Build a strong internal team to serve customers and manage accounts
  •      Create new and better customer opportunities

  • Manage Territory and Accounts
  •      Provide input to Business Manager on monthly pricing nominations
  •      Provide accurate sales forecasts
  •      Analyze and review new sales opportunities and recommend portfolio changes
  •      Report on market and customer activity
  •      Successfully manage T&E to annual budgeted target

Job Requirements

  •      A passion for serving customers, selling and closing deals, and meeting commitments
  •      Ability to challenge the status quo, have difficult conversations, and manage conflict
  •      An entrepreneurial spirit for developing business
  •      Being proactive and executing strategy to deliver bottom-line results
  •      Strong interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written
  •      The ability to develop lasting and trusting relationships with other people
  •      Enthusiasm for and capability to participate on, build, and lead teams
  •      An effective planner and time manager to meet deadlines for multiple deliverables
  •      The ability to work effectively and independently during business travel
  •      Proficiency with computer desktop applications such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and CoPilot
  •      Four year college degree - Preference given to Technical (Engineering) and Business Disciplines
  •      Minimum 4 years work experience – direct Plastics/Petrochemical sales experience preferred

Relocation is not available with this position.
