About NECI

NECI is the leading Automation solutions provider transforming manufacturing, lab operations, process development and process control across a range of process industries in Northeast. NECI relentlessly seeks to drive the outcomes that ‘change the game’ for our clients and is seeking team members to join in our mission.

NECI is seeking an Account Executive to manage customer relationships, develop new business, grow existing accounts, and help deliver solutions that exceed client expectations. This role works across the full sales cycle—from account planning, discovery, and solution development through proposal, close, and successful implementation—while partnering closely with product, services, marketing, operations, and other cross-functional teams.

This posting may be filled at the Account Executive I or Account Executive II level, based on experience, demonstrated capabilities, and familiarity with technical solutions and the process industries. The Account Executive I level is designed for an early-career sales professional who is building industry, product, and account-management expertise. The Account Executive II level is intended for a more experienced seller who can independently manage complex sales cycles, develop account strategies, prospect for new business, and own revenue performance.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and grow assigned customer accounts while building strong, long-term internal and external relationships.
  • Develop new accounts, expand existing customer relationships, and drive revenue in support of NECI’s business plan.
  • Support or lead account planning, customer research, opportunity identification, discovery, solution positioning, presentations, proposal development, negotiation, and successful implementation, depending on level and experience.
  • Engage customers at multiple levels of their organizations and maintain a high standard of professionalism throughout the sales cycle.
  • Develop account strategies and plans that support near-term execution and longer-term growth, including a one- to three-year outlook for assigned accounts as appropriate.
  • Work closely with product and services teams to define solutions, support target and lead-conversion plans, and ensure customer needs are addressed.
  • Maintain accurate customer, contact, activity, opportunity, forecast, and revenue information in Salesforce CRM.
  • Prepare and communicate sales forecasts, account updates, meeting materials, proposals, presentations, and other customer-facing or internal sales documentation.
  • Network and build relationships that maximize territory and portfolio growth.
  • Coordinate with Marketing, Service, Operations, and other cross-functional partners to maximize customer and business value.
  • Follow up promptly on customer requests and commitments, resolving or escalating questions and issues appropriately.
  • Learn and consistently apply NECI’s sales processes, tools, standards, and Total Customer Commitment.
  • Travel locally or regionally, up to 50% as needed.

How You’ll Be Successful

  • Build trust with customers and internal partners through strong communication, listening, responsiveness, and follow-through.
  • Demonstrate curiosity, technical aptitude, business acumen, and the ability to learn a technical product and services portfolio.
  • Conduct thoughtful discovery and apply problem-solving skills to understand customer needs and connect them to solutions.
  • Manage multiple priorities, maintain a high level of productivity, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, complex, collaborative, and team-oriented environment.
  • Use account, opportunity, and sales-activity information to plan effectively, forecast accurately, and make sound decisions.
  • Demonstrate a passion and commitment for customer success.
  • Work effectively with coaching and direction at the Account Executive I level and with increasing independence and judgment at the Account Executive II level.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; a Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Typically 1–5 years of relevant experience in sales, business development, account management, customer success, technical sales, or a related customer-facing role.
  • For the Account Executive I level: demonstrated interest in building a sales career, developing technical and industry knowledge, and learning NECI’s products, services, customers, and sales processes. Prior sales experience in another industry may be considered.
  • For the Account Executive II level: a track record of managing and closing complex sales cycles, prospecting for new business, engaging customers at multiple organizational levels, and achieving or exceeding revenue or quota goals.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers, prospects, and internal partners.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organization, attention management, follow-through, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and perform effectively under time constraints.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
  • Understanding of business development, account management, sales behavior metrics, forecasting, and CRM-based opportunity management.
  • Experience with Salesforce or another CRM platform preferred.
  • Process-industry, technical product, or services experience is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to travel locally or regionally as needed.

Measures of Success

Success in this role includes:

  • Building positive, trusted relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Delivering a high-quality customer experience and upholding NECI’s Total Customer Commitment.
  • Contributing to portfolio and team goals through organized follow-up, accurate CRM activity, opportunity support, and meaningful customer engagement.
  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities while growing existing accounts.
  • Participating effectively in—or leading—account planning, discovery, solution development, presentations, proposals, and other sales-cycle activities.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely customer, contact, activity, opportunity, forecast, and revenue information in Salesforce.
