Working Pattern: Full time 37.5 hours per week

We are seeking an experienced, commercially driven Account Director to accelerate growth across the UK public sector. This high-impact individual contributor role is accountable for new customer acquisition, strategic account growth, pipeline development and profitable revenue delivery.

You will develop relationships across central government, local government, health, blue light services and critical national infrastructure, navigating complex public sector buying cycles and procurement frameworks.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who thrives on strategic business development, senior customer engagement and shaping differentiated connectivity propositions.

As Account Director – Public Sector, you will be responsible for:

  • Define and execute a targeted public sector growth strategy

  • Win new logos and expand strategic accounts

  • Build trusted relationships with senior customer, commercial and procurement stakeholders

  • Lead high-value, multi-year opportunities through framework and direct procurement routes

Key Responsibilities

  • Growth & revenue: own personal revenue, order value, margin and profitability targets, supported by a qualified public sector pipeline.

  • Account development: identify, prioritise and develop target accounts across central government, local government, health, blue light and critical national infrastructure.

  • New business: create and convert new logo opportunities through proactive prospecting, market insight and targeted campaigns.

  • Customer engagement: build trusted relationships with CIO, CTO, commercial, procurement and operational stakeholders.

  • Procurement expertise: navigate frameworks, direct awards, mini-competitions and tender processes with confidence.

  • Internal leadership: work with Product, Marketing, Commercial, Legal, Bid, Delivery and Operations teams to shape compelling propositions and responses.

  • Customer value: translate Neos Networks’ fibre, ethernet, cloud connectivity, WAN and infrastructure capabilities into clear business outcomes.

 

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Proven public sector business development, strategic account management or senior sales experience within telecoms, network infrastructure, managed connectivity or related technology services.

  • Experience winning complex, high-value opportunities through framework and direct procurement routes.

  • Strong understanding of UK public sector structures, buying cycles, governance and procurement behaviours.

  • Credibility with senior IT, commercial, procurement and operational stakeholders.

  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills and focus on profitable growth.

  • Ability to lead virtual teams and drive momentum through complex sales cycles.

  • Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of WAN, DIA, ethernet, dark fibre, cloud connectivity and managed network services.

  • Familiarity with strategic sales methodologies such as Miller Heiman, SPIN, TAS, Holden or similar.
