What is the opportunity?We’re looking for an experienced Academic Quality Lead to join our Quality team within the Registry department. In this pivotal role, you will contribute to delivering a high standard of academic quality and assurance across FutureLearn’s Higher Education Services.
Reporting to the Registrar, you'll lead oversee systems and processes that support academic quality, and implementing continuous improvement strategies that directly enhance the learner experience. You’ll collaborate across departments to maintain rigorous academic standards, support programme validation, and facilitate learner feedback systems, while also ensuring key panels and committees run smoothly and efficiently.
What success looks like:- Support the Registrar in delivering assurance and enhancement activities, ensuring accurate documentation and version control.
- Provide guidance to programme teams during validation, approval, and modification processes.
- Oversee the learner voice system, ensuring effective two-way communication between learners and FutureLearn.
- Coordinate and facilitate panels (e.g. academic misconduct, complaints, appeals, disciplinary), ensuring outcomes are recorded and actions implemented.
- Plan module scheduling across the academic calendar.
- Act as Secretary to academic committees and working groups, managing agendas, minutes, and follow-ups.
- Provide support for quality enhancement projects and initiatives.
- Actively engage in personal and professional development in line with role demands.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusiveness across all activities.
Qualifications & Education
- Educated to A-Level (or equivalent), including GCSEs in Maths and English.
Experience
Essential:
- Strong working knowledge of IT systems and tools.
- Experience working across multiple departments and managing competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Desirable:
- Experience in an academic administrative role within Higher Education.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Experience in academic timetabling and scheduling.
Knowledge & Skills
Essential:
- Excellent IT skills, including data handling and system navigation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in written records and documentation.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data.
Desirable:
- Confident in note taking and formal minute writing.
