The Accessibility Center of Excellence (ACoE) is the enterprise governance and enablement function for digital accessibility within Accenture’s Global IT organization. You are:
As the Digital Accessibility SME Lead serves as the primary advisor and advocate for accessibility within their assigned business grouping, operating consultatively within the Accessibility Center of Excellence (ACoE) Core Team. This role guides partners through the 5-stage interaction model (Initiate → Align → Enable → Govern → Optimize) and drives outcomes aligned to CIO Accessibility priorities, embedding accessibility into business and IT processes, reducing digital barriers, and improving user experience. The SME Lead champions best practices and raises awareness across internal and external stakeholders.
Core Competencies
Deep understanding of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, EN 301 549), regulatory frameworks, and compliance.
Expertise in contract/vendor governance, procurement, platform lifecycle management, and partner ecosystems.
Technical fluency in architecture, development, testing, and agile methodologies.
Strategic thinking, roadmap development, and measurement of accessibility outcomes.
Stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and collaboration across diverse functions.
The work:
- Serve as the primary advisor and advocate for accessibility within the assigned business grouping, promoting a culture of inclusion and raising awareness among internal and external stakeholders.
- Guide partners through the 5-stage interaction model (Initiate → Align → Enable → Govern → Optimize) to achieve accessibility outcomes aligned with CIO Accessibility priorities.
- Embed accessibility into technical standards, policies, and processes to reduce digital barriers and improve user experiences.
- Develop and execute strategic roadmaps to measure and improve accessibility outcomes across the organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate accessibility into platform lifecycle management, procurement, and partner ecosystems.
- Lead contract and vendor governance to ensure compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, EN 301 549) and regulatory frameworks.
- Provide technical expertise in architecture, development, testing, and agile methodologies to support accessibility initiatives.
- Utilize accessibility testing tools (e.g., Axe, Lighthouse, WAVE) to identify and address digital barriers.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to foster collaboration and alignment on accessibility goals.
- Use strategic storytelling and content curation to communicate the value of accessibility and drive organizational change.
- Coordinate change management efforts to ensure successful adoption of accessibility practices across the enterprise.
- Support governance frameworks to ensure ongoing compliance with accessibility standards and policies.
- Continuously optimize accessibility processes and practices to enhance user experiences and achieve measurable outcomes.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Minimum 6 years of experience in relevant domain(s) (e.g., procurement, vendor management, software engineering, architecture, QA, product management, L&D, communications, digital experience).
Minimum 5 years of proven experience embedding accessibility into technical standards, policies, and processes.
Minimum 5 years of experience consulting on enterprise-wide initiatives and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Minimum 5 years of exposure and familiarity with accessibility testing tools (e.g., Axe, Lighthouse, WAVE) and inclusive design principles.
CPACC certification required (or willingness to re-test within 6 months if expired).
Minimum 5 years of experience with strategic storytelling, content curation, and change management.
