Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for a 777/777X Landing Gear System Service Engineering (Associate or Experienced) to join the Landing Gear Service Engineering team in Seal Beach, CA.
Landing Gear Service Engineers (Wheels, Brakes, Tires, Extension-Retraction and Anti-Skid systems) are an integral part of supporting all Boeing Commercial Airplane (BCA) models in-service and development, including programs such as 747, 767, 777, 787, 737NG, 737MAX, 777X, and the next generation of commercial airplanes.
In this role, you will support service requests, customer solutions and predictive/proactive projects, for all in-service Boeing landing gear systems. You will work directly with airline customers, Maintenance Repair Overhaul providers, and Suppliers to address and resolve any issues related to the in-service airplane system, related to Landing Gear systems. In addition, you will act as a liaison and coordinate with various engineering and technical disciplines to address customer concerns.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop creative and innovative solutions to customer issues with Landing Gear Rolling stock, braking systems and extension/retraction systems
- Provide system troubleshooting, fault isolation and root cause determination of landing gear system/component issues
- Work closely with Suppliers and Design Engineering to analyze reliability data and resolve system/component reliability issues
- Present and address complex technical issues with airline customers, as well as Supplier forums
- Analyze flight and operational data to resolve landing systems issues
- Participates and/or leads component reliability improvement projects
- Assists with the development and documentation of basic requirements via drawings, data sets, reports, specifications, and supporting data
- Develops or modifies basic designs based on defined requirements
- Assist in monitoring suppliers' performance to ensure compliance with requirements
- Supports resolution of product integration issues and production anomalies
- Assists other members of project or program teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement engineering solutions to meet group, organization, and company objectives
- Responds to incoming customer service requests with development of robust and timely technical dispositions
- Supports the research of technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer
- Supports review and development of technical documentation (e.g. Fleet Team Digest articles, service letters, drawings, specifications, documents, data sets, manuals) in accordance with engineering processes and procedures for internal reference or external delivery
- Assists in developing troubleshooting and/or repair procedures, as well as, providing analysis of interim and final engineering solutions to return airplanes to revenue service
- Works with cross-functional teams to conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non-conformances
- Participates in Customer on-site Aircraft-On-Ground (AOG) activities to restore aircraft to serviceable condition
- Leverages our Customer Support and larger Boeing networks to support customer needs
This position is expected to be 100% onsite and requires flexibility to support emergent airline issues, requirements, and meetings. Occasionally, you may be required to work off-shift schedules to support the 24/7/365 fleet operation. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Seal Beach, CA.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
- 2+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Able and willing to occasionally work outside of standard 1st shift to support 24/7/365-day operation - Saturday and Sunday work will occasionally be required
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- LEVEL 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in Landing Gear systems (Wheels/Brakes/Tire/Hydraulic actuation) design and system troubleshooting
- Experience in developing or using various aircraft maintenance documents to maintain airplanes
- Airline Maintenance Operations preferred
- Knowledge of Boeing Communication System

Summary Pay Range Associate (Level 2): $90,950 - $123,050
Summary Pay Range Experienced (Level 3): $111,350 - $150,650
