- Ensure staff engineers adhere to HCA Healthcare development standards, policies, and procedures, including secure coding practices and mandated application development tools.
- Enforce best practices for code management, version control, and documentation across all development efforts.
- Lead and manage software development projects from initiation through production deployment, overseeing the full lifecycle including planning, elaboration, development, testing, and release.
- Ensure project milestones, timelines, and quality expectations are consistently met.
- Ensure all developers perform unit testing and actively participate in peer and code reviews to maintain high-quality, maintainable, and secure codebases.
- Promote accountability for code quality and continuous improvement across teams.
- Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting, working directly with end users at all organizational levels.
- Proactively identify and resolve application issues to enhance overall user experience and system reliability.
- Establish baseline Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and operating metrics to assess the effectiveness of technology adoption before and after implementation.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance adoption, efficiency, and scalability, including adding, modifying, or eliminating processes as needed.
- Conduct training sessions and ensure appropriate technical and process training is delivered to support successful adoption of new tools and technologies.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and skills development.
- Lead the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) for initiatives aimed at stabilizing, enhancing, and expanding the capabilities of the CARD team.
- Ensure consistent execution of development methodologies and delivery standards.
- Partner with product owners and business stakeholders to gather and refine requirements.
- Author and manage user stories with clear acceptance criteria, prioritize backlogs, accept or reject completed work, and remove delivery roadblocks.
- Coordinate closely with other technical teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
- Manage all personnel involved in the software development lifecycle, including developers, business analysts, quality assurance professionals, and support staff.
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development guidance.
- Oversee ongoing application support operations, ensuring support tickets are assigned appropriately and resolved in alignment with defined SLAs.
- Monitor support performance and drive continuous service improvement.
- Champion and implement Agile development principles across the CARD department and with broader HCA Healthcare stakeholders.
- Continuously improve development processes, collaboration, and delivery outcomes through Agile best practices.
- Collaborate with HCA Healthcare architects to evaluate proposed innovative technologies for technical fit, scalability, and organizational alignment.
- Partner with corporate leadership, divisional leaders, clients, and project managers to plan, staff, and deliver application enhancements successfully.
