The 2nd Pressman-2nd shift will be responsible for the safe operation of the assigned printing press in the daily functions of press operation and press room procedures. This position reports directly to the press room shift supervisor.
What you’ll do as a 2nd Pressman:
- Follows instructions from job ticket and sets up and directs set up of press according to Press Operator.
- Maintains and strives for efficient production, meeting company production goals and standards.
- Assists in staging materials needed and organizing them for production of each job. Maintains communication with press operator regarding stock levels and materials in advance so as not to experience any downtime.
- Loads all paper lifts in press including make ready books when assisting on start-up. Ensures that all guides are set and sheet detectors working properly. Assists in register of image fit at make ready and throughout production run.
- Monitors consistency of sheet at feeder maintaining proper pull and register of sheet.
- Assists press operator in checking sheet pulls during run and maintaining proper ink levels and run quantities.
- Assists in cleaning of blankets, cylinders, coatings, rollers, fountain trays, fountain solutions and washing units. Keeps press and surrounding work area clean and tidy.
- Assist in keeping workflow moving during transitions from set up to finished run.
- Assists on floor with moving of stock and cleaning of area on a consistent basis.
- Assists in maintaining inventory to press of ink, rags, solvents etc.
- Assists in moving and marking finished loads to finished work area of pressroom.
- Responsible for checking turned and winded loads. Marking side guides and ensuring that no damaged paper enters press. Measuring quantities and matching to stock pull quantities.
- Engages in training of press operation, Pressroom standards and technology.
- Performs other duties as required.

Physical requirements and working conditions:
Our manufacturing Plant is comprised of enclosed office and manufacturing space. This position requires the ability to:
- Move throughout the entire facility to attend to various issues
- Work effectively in teams across functional groups with strong communication skills and the ability to lead
- Perform sedentary work on various computer systems
- This 2nd Pressman position is located on-site in our DALLAS facility

Skills Required
- Ability to read and apply engineering requirements on a per-job basis
- Experience setting up and operating printing presses or similar printing equipment
