The Role
Records oil and gas sales; performs sales variance analysis; and reconciles balance sheet accounts.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Processes oil and gas sales and related deducts/taxes/royalties timely and accurately.
- Reviews cash application by purchaser on a monthly basis and reconciles the receivable accounts accordingly.
- Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations for assigned accounts on a monthly basis.
- Understands revenue recognition standards.
- Processing prior period adjustments.
- Prepares sales variance analysis and explains major sales fluctuations for assigned properties on a monthly basis.
- Participates in period closing activities, including preparation and review of flux analysis.
- Assists in audits and inquiries from other functions/outside parties.
- Performs special projects that require knowledge of oil and gas revenue accounting as needed.
- Maintains technical knowledge by completing technical trainings, review of industry publications, and relevant guidance.
- Provides training and guidance to junior staff and new employees.

Qualifications:
- Five (5) years minimum experience in oil and gas revenue accounting.
- Three (3) years minimum experience in revenue accounting.
- Ability to proactively identify and solve complex problems with little assistance or guidance.
- Ability to solve problems accurately and exhibit exceptional proficiency in data management, including spreadsheet proficiency.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, managers of other departments, regulators, and the public.
- Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
- Outstanding administrative and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex revenue data into an organized and presentable manner.
- Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
- Required: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Preferred: SAP PRA, and Alteryx.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a degree in accounting.
