The Drive-by-Wire (DBW) team focuses on the development of electronic and electro-mechanical systems that replace traditional mechanical linkages in vehicle control functions. Our mission is to ensure that vehicles accurately receive and execute driving commands from higher-level systems, enabling safe, reliable, and efficient vehicle operation.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop drive-by-wire functions and software with redundancy and diagnosis.
  • Perform electrical and software integration and introduction of drive-by-wire systems on new autonomous vehicle platforms.
  • Ensure reliable vehicle operation of drive-by-wire actuators in all modes of operation across various vehicle platforms.
  • Troubleshoot, triage, and provide diagnostic support for field issues related to the vehicle control system.

Qualifications:

  • BS/MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar field
  • Proficient in Embedded C, C++ is a must
  • Strong understanding of either of the following fields:
  • 1. Brake/steering/propulsion actuators of electric vehicles
    2. CAN/LIN/Ethernet communication protocol
    3. Vehicle ECU embedded development
    4. CAN tools like CANalyzer/CANoe and capl script
  • Strong root-cause analysis for problem-solving
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional team collaboration abilities
  • Passion for innovation in the autonomous vehicle industry

At WeRide, interns collaborate with industry leaders on impactful projects that drive meaningful results for the company. You'll apply your knowledge while gaining opportunities to expand your skill set. Our 12-week/ 3-month internship program begins in May or June 2026. Successful candidates must be available to work in the office five days a week. Interns will receive 1-on-1 mentorship, hands-on training, and engage in fun team-building activities as well as interactive workshops, enhancing both professional and personal growth.
