The Role

2026 Summer Intern - Regev Lab - Spatial Readout

Department Summary

Regev lab is seeking a talented and highly motivated intern with a strong experimental and/or computational background. This project addresses the challenge of understanding how localized molecular factors modulate biological responses within complex tissue environments.
To bridge the gap between discovery and functional efficacy, we utilize a spatially resolved, in vivo screening platform. This system enables the systematic evaluation of how local perturbations remodel their surrounding environment and drive specific functional signatures at scale.

This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.

The Opportunity

The intern will focus on the spatial readout and phenotypic characterization of these perturbations. The goal is to deconvolve how specific localized factors drive distinct biological phenotypes using high-resolution tissue profiling and in situ analysis. By combining advanced biochemical assay development with spatial mapping, this work aims to map the functional architecture of complex tissue systems.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks minimum with option to extend, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June 2026.

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are

Required Education:

  • Must be pursuing a Master's degree (enrolled student).

  • Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).

Required Majors: Systems Biology, Computational Biology or Bioengineering.

Required Skills:

  • Chemistry Optimization: Evaluate and refine novel biochemical chemistries to enhance sensitivity and signal accuracy for in situ data collection.

  • Assay Development: Establish robust, scalable workflows for on-slide biochemical reactions and high-throughput imaging to ensure reproducibility.

  • Spatial Mapping: Execute high-resolution tissue profiling to precisely localize

  • perturbations and characterize their distribution patterns.

  • Computational Analysis: Conduct bioinformatic analysis of spatial datasets to quantify regional differences and perform comparative analysis across tissue regions.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.
