Department Summary
The Product Development Global Clinical Operations (PDG) department is accountable for developing and delivering patient-centered operational strategies to recruit and retain patients for Roche and Genentech Phase 1b through Phase IV clinical trials, delivering data that improves health outcomes around the world.
The Analytics and Portfolio Optimization (APO) team resides within PDG and collaborates across the enterprise to deliver valuable, data-driven insights and develop enabling analytics to optimize study delivery.
This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.
The Opportunity
Collaborate within cross-functional teams to develop analytical solutions, gain alignment and deliver impactful business insights; engage stakeholders to enable better decision-making.
Develop tools and methodologies for automating data processing, cleaning, and delivering analyses and business solutions to PDG.
Explore various Large Language Models (LLMs) and orchestrations to develop autonomous solutions that augment clinical operations.
Participate in a product team and support product innovation, development, and adoption.
Program Highlights
12 months, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in May/June 2026.
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the Internship.
Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

Who You Are (Required)
Required Education
You meet one of the following criteria:
Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).
Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree.
Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).
Must have attained a Master's Degree.
Required Majors: Life Sciences (e.g, Biology, Molecular Biology) or Quantitative Field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Bioengineering).
Required Skills:
Analytical mindset and good problem-solving ability, breaking down complex problems into distinct parts, managing uncertainty, understanding, anticipating interdependencies.
Experience with database querying and data analysis using SQL and Python.
Proficiency in standard analysis, collaboration, and presentation software (Microsoft Office Suite or Google Suite, etc).
Demonstrated self-starter who proactively seeks out stakeholder input and conducts user interviews to ensure analytical solutions solve the right business problems.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Experience with predictive modeling, simulation, forecasting, and large language models.
Understanding of clinical research and drug development.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $45.00-$50.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
