Department Summary
Genentech's Hillsboro Technical Operations (HTO), located in Hillsboro Oregon, is Drug Product manufacturing (Component Prep & Compounding, Liquid/Lyophilized Filling, Automated/Manual Inspection, Packaging/Finished Products and Distribution). This location is currently experiencing a period of growth, with a variety of opportunities to support optimization of our existing processes, as well as the delivery of new capabilities and technologies. We are a key aspect in a world-wide network of industry leading expertise and high performing pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. Our work is critical in ensuring we reliably supply medicine to the millions of patients who currently depend on us, as well as reaching new patient populations.
This internship position is located in Hillsboro, on-site.
The Opportunity:
We are now accepting applications for the Summer 2026 Genentech Summer Internship Program. This post is for manufacturing-based roles in Hillsboro, Oregon, Genentech/Roche’s only Drug Product manufacturing facility in North America. These roles will fall under the disciplines of Process Engineer, Automation Engineer, Asset/Equipment Engineer and Validation Engineer.
As an intern, you will perform various tasks under the guidance and mentorship of your manager. You will be expected to attend meetings, read independently on relevant topics, follow a training schedule set by your supervisor, and perform tasks independently as appropriate. You will also be expected to summarize the purpose of your work and any findings, and you will present future recommendations in the form of an oral and poster presentation.
Program Highlights:
Intensive 12-weeks, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are between May/June (Summer).
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
Ownership of impactful business-critical projects.
Work with some of the most talented professionals in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.
Final presentations of project work to senior leaders.
Professional & personal development curriculum throughout the program, such as networking opportunities, workshops, tours, and panel discussions.
Who You Are:
Required Education:
You meet one of the following criteria:
Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).
Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).
Required Majors:
Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Biomedical, etc.), Computer Science or related field.
Preferred (but not mandatory) skills:
Please note: The goal of the internship is to expose you to the pharmaceutical industry & the myriad opportunities within it. The following skills will give you an idea of different assignment possibilities. You do NOT need to have all of these skills in order to apply. Not all internships will use all these skills.
Provide technical support and engineering solutions for process and equipment-related issues.
Process/equipment monitoring & identification of improvement opportunities
Qualification & validation of pharmaceutical processes.
Use of Lean Manufacturing tools & techniques to optimize performance & reduce waste.
Utilization of data collection, management, analytics techniques to identify trends & actionable insights.
Working & delivering in cross-functional teams.
Experience with presentation software: PowerPoint, Google Slides, Lucid
Time management: organization, prioritization, and following through to meet goals and deadlines

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Oregon is $23.00-$35.00 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
