We are seeking a senior AWS Data Engineer to join a data engineering project will support migration and modernization of an on-premises API-driven application landscape to AWS.. This role will design and consolidation of high-volume, real-time data pipelines and migration of hundreds of REST APIs into cloud-hosted microservices to meet the project's data integration and analytics needs.
Responsibilities- Design, implement, and support real-time data pipelines and integrations migrating existing on-premises REST APIs and services to AWS.
- Work with Kubernetes-based deployments (on-premise Kubernetes or AKS) and translate architectures into AWS-hosted solutions.
- Build and operationalize high-volume REST API integrations with robust retrieve and update capabilities.
- Ensure solutions handle high request volumes, maintaining performance at sustained levels (e.g., hundreds of requests per second).
- Enable microservice decomposition of existing legacy API surfaces.
- Provide support for both cloud and on-premises runtime environments during and after migration.
- 4–6 years of hands-on experience in data engineering and API integration.
- Hands-on experience with real-time pipeline and API development.
- Hands-on experience developing or supporting REST API integrations.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (on-premise Kubernetes or AKS).
- Hands-on experience with Java and Python for API and service development.
- Hands-on experience supporting high-volume API traffic (hundreds of requests per second).
- Hands-on experience with AWS services used for cloud migrations and hosting.
- Proven experience migrating on-premises applications to cloud-hosted microservices.
- Experience working with Snowflake.
Skills Required
- 6-9 years of hands-on experience in data engineering.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda.
- Hands-on experience with AWS S3.
- Hands-on experience with databases and related AWS services.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, including Snowflake AI components (Cortex, Cortex Code, AI functions).
- Strong fundamentals in data marts, data warehouses, data lake design, data modeling, and process flow.
- Proven ability to produce initial architecture drafts independently for architectural review.
- Profile scope: senior-level data engineering experience (not application/app development).
