The Senior Systems Engineer will support virtual server and container hosting environments for a federal government client. Responsibilities include improving uptime and performance, automating operational processes, troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues, assessing vulnerabilities and risks, developing quality controls and operational metrics, and coordinating with cybersecurity, networking, cloud, support teams, and vendors. The role requires expertise across VMware, Kubernetes, virtual networking, server hosting, security, scripting, network switching, firewalls, fault-tolerant architecture, and infrastructure as code.

Provides senior-level systems engineering support for virtual server and container hosting environments on a government contract. Reviews operational events, recommends automation and service improvements, troubleshoots complex infrastructure issues, assesses vulnerabilities and risks, and develops quality controls and operational metrics focused on uptime and performance. Collaborates with enterprise operations, cybersecurity, networking, cloud teams, and technology vendors. The role requires expertise across virtualization, networking, server hosting, Kubernetes, security, and scripting.

Manage and support enterprise data protection and recovery systems, primarily Commvault environments, storage platforms, cloud targets, and Windows media agents. Provide recovery support for Exchange, file systems, Oracle, and SQL databases; evaluate infrastructure enhancements; maintain procedures and technical documentation; troubleshoot complex systems; and support 24/7 operations with occasional travel to data centers.
