Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law Benefits Overview

Support civil rights and racial justice initiatives through research, report and presentation preparation, document organization, scheduling, administrative assistance, project planning, and cross-functional collaboration. Interns may work across departments such as communications, human resources, operations, information technology, and the executive office. The role offers meaningful projects, mentorship, and flexible full-time or part-time scheduling for currently enrolled undergraduate students.

Legal interns support civil rights and racial justice advocacy through legal research, drafting documents, organizing case files, communicating with clients under attorney supervision, analyzing legal issues, summarizing legal documents, and providing administrative support. Interns must be enrolled in law school and demonstrate strong research and writing skills, independence, and an interest in public service, government, public policy, and civil rights.

Develops, writes, edits, and publishes communications content including emails, web content, blog posts, op-eds, talking points, essays, and annual reports. Translates complex civil rights issues into accessible narratives, ensures editorial and brand consistency, supports digital audience engagement, manages content calendars and production workflows, and collaborates with communications, development, consultants, and organizational leaders.
